Divorcing

Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Going Public

On the other side of the hallway, Michael stood at the comer, watching Chloe’s mischievous grin as she rambled on. His head throbbed with frustration

She’s a master of lying

Chloe just spilled the tea: Michael got hit by a car and died because he cheated on his wife.

She’s absolutely badass!

Michael walked right past Chloe, acting like she wasn’t even there. His presence dominated the entire office,

People glanced at Michael and quickly stepped back, clearly not wanting to mess with him right now.

“Who ticked off Michael this time? He’s fuming!”

Chloe saw Michael walk by and instinctively followed, her heart skipping a beat.

The coworkers around were all stunned.

If she chases after Michael now, she’ll totally get roasted!

Michael was not only strikingly handsome but also the most capable person in the company. Many admired him, and Chloe might just be one of them.

Sensing the curious glances from those around her, Chloe instinctively slowed her pace, keeping a safe distance from Michael.

She tried to play the role of a dutiful subordinate as usual “Mr. Shawn, I’d like to discuss the work handover with you.”

Her tone was respectful, without a hint of overstepping

From the start, Michael was super anxious about anyone finding out about their relationship.

At Paramount Airlines, she couldn’t show any affection towards him not even stand a little closer.

She couldn’t call him by his name, she had to use a title.

Chloe had done well these past three years, never once making him feel awkward. Today, she needed a favor from Michael, so she played by the rules.

She said that, and just like that, everyone around lost their curiosity,

Michael halted and turned to her, his expression icy.

“Mr.

  1. r. Shawn?”

Chloe blinked, sensing nothing amiss.

That’s what she always called him.

“Is something wrong, Mr. Shawn?”

No sooner had he finished speaking than Michael wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace with a gentle but firm bug.

He grinned wickedly.

“Sure thing. Come on in.”

Chiloe froze, too scared to move. She stiffened as he wrapped an arm around her and led her into his office.

She thought, “What on earth is he doing?”

“Isn’t Michael afraid of people finding out about their relationship?”

Chapter 28: Going Public

“With so many colleagues behind him, isn’t he fearless now?”

Once inside the room with the door shut, Chloe shoved him away and growled, “What do you think you’re doing?”

“You’re crazy. There were so many people outside just now!”

Michael glanced up at her, then pinned her against the door.

Their bodies pressed together, feeling each other’s warm, slightly ticklish breath,

Chloe kept her head down, terrified that if she looked up, her face would brush against his.

She forced herself to stay calm. “Michael, you shouldn’t have just…”

Je his deal?*

“We’re married. Do I need to remind you? Holding my wife in public, what’s the big deal?”

Chloe was speechless.

“You don’t want me to mention that we’re married at work, right?”

Chloe had a temper too; she wasn’t about to let Michael push her around.

Why does he get to decide without asking her?

You wouldn’t let me keep our relationship private, so you went around saying I was dead and terrible in bed?”

Chloe froze, her confidence wavering. “What? If you don’t admit it, no one will know I’m talking about you.”

Michael looked at her, frustrated and helpless.

She’s turned into such a smooth talker now.
