Chloe smirked. “Mr. Shawn, you sure have energy to spare. Your date’s still over there, yet you rushed over to chat with me.”

She always picks on Lucy, leaving Michael feeling both helpless and confused.

He frowned, glancing at the curious eyes around him.

Michael casually pulled Chloe closer, his expression unreadable. “Chloe, I don’t like you wearing that. Change it.”

He selectively ignored Chloe’s words.

Michael’s arrogance surprised Chloe.

He’s always been into women like Lucy. She seemed so calm and unbothered, never competing or fighting, always gentle with

everyone.

Even after three years, Chloe still couldn’t measure up to Lucy in Michael’s eyes.

Just as Chloe was about to say no, someone gently grabbed her arm from behind.

In the blink of an eye, tall Quinn yanked her behind him.

Quinn stepped between herself and Michael.

Quinn stood there, silently watching Michael, as if ready to shield Chloe.

Michael had been relatively calm just moments ago, but the sight of Quinn instantly darkened his expression.

He let out a cold chuckle and slowly said, “Chloe, come here.”

Chloe stood behind Quinn. His broad shoulders shielded her, making her feel safe.

Hearing that, she didn’t even flinch.

Michael was furious, his tone harsh, like he absolutely loathed

Chloe.

“Did you forget our deal? We’re in public. You’re a married woman!”

Michael mentioned the contract, and Chloe shivered slightly.

The contract was now her Achilles‘ heel. If she really pissed him off, the divorce might get messy again.

Chloe stepped out from behind Quinn, locking eyes with Michael.

“What are you trying to say? I’m here on business, not to stalk

you.”

Chloe really didn’t want to lose her cool with Michael here.

Lucy sauntered over, two drinks in hand. She handed one to Chloe.

“Chloe, seriously, Michael and I are just here for business. I get that you’re worried about how close we are, but there’s nothing going on between us. It’s all strictly professional.”

“Look, if it matters to you, I’m sorry. Just don’t lose your cool here and mess up the deal!”

Lucy’s innocent expression and sweet voice made her seem really mature.

She stood by Michael’s side, looking every bit the perfect couple.

Chloe glanced at them and felt a wave of disgust.

“I don’t care what you’re here for. I’m not looking for a fight. Mr. Shawn came to me first.”

“Well, since you mentioned it, let me be clear. Why would Mr. Shawn bring an engineer to discuss business? And why are you two acting so close?”

“Mr. Shawn, I’m giving you back your words. You’re married, so watch yourself.”

Chloe couldn’t believe that jerk had the nerve to play the victim.
