18 Chapter
“Hi, Pen.”
“What are you doing here, Ethan?”
“I came to talk, I remember we talked about it.”
“You were dreaming,” she continued to be rude to him.
“Pen, you can behave appropriately, not like a little child.”
“Why, are you giving this child a hard time, you big uncle?”
“Stop sassing me.”
“Or else what? Call your friends to help calm me down?”
“Pen, I just want to talk to you.”
“And I don’t want to, what are you going to do about it?”
“Pen,” he stepped closer to her.
“Ethan, that’s enough. Get away from me.”
“They didn’t come, calm down. I’m here alone.”
“I wasn’t afraid of them, I was afraid of you, Ethan.”
“Why? Why are you afraid of me?”
“Stop following me, I already told Sam that I won’t take part in the competition.”
“Are you an idiot? He called me and told me about your decision. Sam put his heart into your couple, and you’re trying to ruin it to avoid talking to me.”
“Don’t insult me, it’s my decision. You’re not the only reason, don’t flatter yourself.”
“You’re doing this because I’m around. You’re afraid of me.”
“Yes. I don’t want to be around you, to see you and hear you. Sorry, I’m tired after practice, so I have to blow-dry my hair and get out of here.”
“I haven’t seen a bigger idiot than you.”
“Really? Now see, let me pass, Ethan. I hope you’ll leave.”
He was looking at her, she was covered with a big towel. But she felt uncomfortable around him, especially like that.
“You’re not leaving, I take it?” asked a direct question as she took a hair dryer from the shelf and plugged it in to dry her hair.
“I wanted to tell you,” he didn’t finish, and Pen turned on the hair dryer, which buzzed and kept Ethan from saying a word.
“Turn it off,” he ordered, but she continued to ignore him, continuing to dry her hair. Ethan was hurt by this, by her attitude toward him. He was freaking out and fighting himself as hard as he could, but it was getting to be too much. Ethan walked over to Pen and unplugged the cord from the hair dryer.
– What are you doing? – She objected, but he didn’t care.
“I’m sick of you, I’m sick of you!” he yelled at her, and threw the hair dryer on the floor.
“You’ll break it, you idiot,” she yelled at him, but he didn’t care. He looked at her face, at her lips that he wanted to kiss. The ones he always wanted to kiss and torment.
“I’ve had it,” he said more calmly, and took her face in his hands.
“No, don’t you dare,” she resisted, but really wanted it more than anything. She wanted to feel his lips on hers again.
“I’m going to kiss you now, Pen.”
“Kiss,” she surrendered in an instant. She could not resist him.
He kissed her tenderly. Pen responded to the kiss with more confidence, wrapping her hands in his hair.
The tender kiss was followed by a more passionate and deeper one. Ethan’s hand slid down and under the towel. His fingers caressed the skin on his legs and slowly worked their way up.
“Ethan,” she said warningly.
-“Don’t be afraid, Pen. I won’t hurt you.”
“He had already started to pull the towel off her, but she wouldn’t let him, holding both hands on her.”
“Pen, don’t,” he asked.”
“Ethan, you don’t have to. Let’s leave it at that.”
“You don’t want it. You’re in love with me. I’m sure you’re thinking of me. Why, then, do you resist your own feelings and desires?”
“It makes no sense, Ethan. Let me go,” she answered and moved away from him.
“What are you afraid of? Explain to me, I don’t understand, Pen.”
“You wouldn’t understand. Please, no more of this.”
“I want you, Pen. I think about you all the time.”
“You just want to fuck me, that’s all. This is much more important to me, Ethan. I can’t give myself away for nothing. I’m sorry.”
“Pen,” he walked over to her and ran his fingers over her arm.
“Ethan, that’s enough.”
“What makes you think I’m going to leave you after this?”
“I’m sure you will. An inexperienced, innocent fool, that’s what I am to you. No more than that.”
“You want to sell your virginity for a lot more, am I right?”
“What? What did you say?” Pen slapped him on the cheek with her palm.
– Am I not right?”
“Get out, get out. I don’t want to know you anymore.”
“Pen, name a price, and I’ll pay you. How much money do you want for this? For letting me fuck you?”
“Get out, Ethan.”
“So I’m right.”
“I think my friends will give you a good price. Go for it. They know how to do a lot of things in bed, maybe they can teach you.”
“Shut up, go away!” she demanded, tears were coming to her eyes.
“You need money to pay the tuition fee, the rent. Why not?”
“Go away, Ethan. Go away!” she shouted, already in tears. But he didn’t care. He was sure that’s what she wanted-the money.
“Don’t do this tearful, cheap show. I will sponsor your couple, whether you want it or not. Not for you, but for my friend,” he said one last word before he left the locker room.
What had gotten into him? Why was he so angry? He’d hoped so much for reciprocal feelings, and here they were. But he blew it, like he always did. He would realize he had been wrong, but could Pen forgive him after that?
