Chapter 383 It's My Child After All
Dominic said nothing and handed her a glass of water.
Bella took the glass and rinsed her mouth, but she had lost all appetite now. She went back to her room and checked her weight. She was just 99 pounds. If she weren't pregnant, that would be fine, but for a pregnant woman, she was a bit thin. Dominic didn't return to the dining table to continue eating. She wondered if he was disgusted by her. Instead, he sat on the couch, engrossed in his phone with a severe expression. It made others hesitant to approach.
She was frustrated and restless. She wanted to go for a stroll and was about to text Lia when he glanced up and asked, "Is there anything in particular you want to eat?"
Bella was taken aback and thought for a moment. She wanted something spicy, like hot wings or jerk chicken, but she didn't dare so. She knew those were the things she couldn't eat during pregnancy.
Under his expectant gaze, she blankly shook her head. "No, I just want to go for a walk with Lia. You can head back if you have nothing else to do."
Dominic grabbed his jacket, draped it over his arm, and put on his shoes. "I'll come with you. I'm free anyway."
She wanted to reject him, but all she could think of was the terms of their contract, so she kept her mouth shut for the child's sake even though strolling with him made her uneasy.
Since he was there, she didn't call Lia. Three people would make the situation even more unpleasant, so she decided to suffer alone.
Bella was only wearing a light cream-colored maternity shirt. As a cool breeze blew, she couldn't help but shiver.
The next second, Dominic's jacket was slung over her shoulders. She turned to look at him before swiftly glancing away. "If we go out like this, people might think we're a married couple." His expression remained indifferent. "So what?"
She chuckled and asked, "What will you explain if someone takes a photo of you strolling with a pregnant woman?"
They had just reached the stairs, and he instinctively reached out to help her. "What's there to explain? That child is mine. Why didn't you eat much earlier? Aren't you hungry?"
Bella groaned as she massaged her slightly rounder belly. "The baby refuses to let me eat. What can I do? I'm hungry, but I'm not sure what to eat. Whatever I eat makes me want to puke..."
Without realizing it, they had walked out of the neighborhood. As they walked along the wide road, the aroma of grilled food wafted over and she instantly felt hungry. She started looking around. After walking a little further, they came across a barbecue restaurant.
She slowed her stride as her mouth watered excessively. It was torturous...
Dominic somehow sensed her craving and pulled her directly into the restaurant. "If you want to eat it, just say so. I've checked online and found that eating a little won't Kurt because it's better than eating nothing."
Bella tried to hold on to a bit of self-control. "No, no... It's not good for the baby..."
"I said you could eat, so eat! You're a doctor but not an obstetrician. Don't you realize starving is bad for the baby?" he insisted.
She paused for a few seconds
before giving in and ordering
everything she desired. She even requested for the food to be extra spicy She had been craving spicy foods recently and couldn't stand anything bland.
When the food arrived, Dominic sat quietly and watched her eat. After a while, he asked, "Are you having a girl? They say that if you're craving spicy foods, it's because you're carrying a daughter." Bella mumbled with her mouth full of barbecued meat, "That's just an old wives' story. Trust the science. I'm craving spicy food now, but who knows what I'll switch to next?"
