By the time she had heard half of it, she couldn't eat anymore. When Rejoyla finished telling the story, Joana was in a daze with her mouth open in shock. It took her a long while to react. "Wait, are you saying that your college boyfriend was Jason?"
Joana knew that Rejoyla had a boyfriend in college, and she even helped Rejoyla so that Jacquelyn wouldn't find it out. She never expected that Rejoyla's boyfriend would be Jason. "Joy, you're impressive. You could even bring yourself to kiss Jason. I could feel his hostility from three meters away."
Rejoyla rolled her eyes at Joana. To be honest, she was also afraid of Jason at first. She remembered when they first met, she was still naive and didn't realize that he was pursuing her. She only knew that this cold-looking man was scary, and she didn't want to see him. But for some reason, he always appeared around her. If it weren't for what happened later, she wouldn't have fallen in love with Jason. Thus, she had been in love with him for so many years.
Joana's usually slow brain was working fast this time. "I get it now. You didn't come home last night because you were with Jason!"
Rejoyla blushed and grabbed a grape to stuff it into Joana's mouth. "Anyway, I made it clear to him just now. We should pretend we don't know each other from now on. You have to keep this a secret. Now Jacquelyn has married Burton. If people know this, they will say something harsh. Those women in Nick's family are evil. Be careful not to let them bully you!"
Joana nodded quickly. "You can trust me. I've never leaked your secrets before. When we were in middle school, the hunk of the next-door school sent you love letters every day, but I never told Mom about it!"
That was true. Although Joana loved gossip, she was discreet in her speech and never broke her promises.
"Can you stop mentioning that school hunk? He clearly wanted me to pass on the love letters to you. He was insane. Who knew what he meant by not saying a word? If I hadn't gotten rid of him for you, you might have been pestered by that lunatic!"
"Bah, can you say something nice?" Joana threw herself to Rejoyla with a smile, and they started to playfully fight. They threw off the blankets while playing. Joana pointed to the bruises on Rejoyla's skin and exclaimed, "What happened? He, he hit you!"
Rejoyla looked down and realized that Joana's sleepwear was too revealing. She had only used foundation to cover up her neck, but now her smooth skin was exposed, and there were bruises on it.
Joana was so angry that she cried. Wiping her tears, she searched for something and said, "Jason is a jerk! How dare he abuse you like that! Don't worry, Joy. I'll teach him a lesson!" She grabbed a glass jar that was used to put cookies and wanted to get even with Jason aggressively.
Rejoyla had no time to pay attention to her address and stopped Joana in a hurry. Wasn't Joana going to trouble herself? Joana was thin and wouldn't be able to withstand a single strike from Jason. Besides, Jason was probably not in a good mood right now. It was not the time to provoke him.
Joana didn't follow Rejoyla's words and kept shouting about revenge, while Rejoyla stopped her. As they were pulling each other, Jason's low and slightly cold voice rang out from the doorway. "Are you looking for me?"
Rejoyla turned her head. Jason was leaning against the door with a faint smile.
