Beverly

Chapter 28

Beverly Carington

“What? You said that you and Clyde now work together?” Grandma asked me in disbelief through the phone.

“He took over… it used to be Peter but he took over and he asked all of us to work in his office.” I said and grandma laughed.

“Fred, your son is unbelievable.”

“I told you.” I raised my eyebrows.

“What do you mean by that?” I asked him.

“Beverly, you two have been together for a good 5 months. It will be a lie if you two don’t miss each other.” Fred said and I sighed. He was right about me but I don’t know about Clyde. He’s with Anna anyway.

“Fred, Clyde’s with Anna now.”

“Did you two talk?” Grandma asked.

“Well we talked and he tried to return the car and the phone. I mean we fought after that… and then done. We didn’t talk a lot.” I said.

“How long will you be working with him?” Jocelyn asked.

“Our deadline is in a month.”

“Well that’s still 30 days…” Fred said.

“Nope… 29 days. I need to work fast because everytime we see each other. We want to kill each other.”

“Well that’s great. Kill each other and then end up in bed.” Grandma said and I looked at her disbelief. She laughed and I chuckled.

“Grandma… you…”

“What? Oh come on… I was young too.”

“Mom… you’re too much.” Fred said.

“Are you going to work now?” Grandma asked.

“Yes… I’m going to work. I’ll call you later on? Maybe at night?” I said.

“Yes… okay. Have fun.” Grandma said and ended the call. I chuckled because she’s just hilarious. I walked out from my apartment and went down to the parking lot. I got into my car and drove out from the building.

I drove towards Clyde’s office and when I arrived there… I gave the valet chauffer my car key and let him park my car. I walked inside and got into the lift. I walked into the office right on time but there’s only Clyde.

“Where’s Vin and Sean?”

“They went to the place to measure the new space.”

“The Hastington wants to make a small golf field so they have to measure again.” Clyde said and I nodded. I walked to my work desk and put my bag down. I began to do my work again.

It’s quite disturbing having Clyde here, I can’t… concentrate that much. I took my sketch to the big table that we used to have a meeting or eat.

Suddenly someone bursted the door and I turned to see… Anna.

“Beverly? What the hell are you doing here?” Anna looked at me coldly.

“Anna?” Clyde turned to her.

“What is she doing here?” Anna asked Clyde right away. Clyde got up from his seat and dragged her from the room. I sat down and sighed. I got up and decided to give Anna an explanation. I walked out from the door and found them arguing in the small hallway.

“How cou- you lie to me! Why didn’t you tell me?” Anna bursted.

“This is why I don’t want to tell you. She’s just my partner for this project. It will end next month.”

“You can pick someone else, Clyde!”

“She’s from another company, I can’t control it. She happens to be in this project too.” He’s lying. He’s the one who took over.

“Send someone else!”

“It’s a big project, Anna. We’re dealing with Hastington here. This is why I don’t want to tell you, you’re being so childish. I’m your boyfriend not her fake fiance anymore. Besides… our relationship was fake.” That just stabbed me.

“Promise me that you won’t talk to her unless it’s work related. I trusted you, Clyde.” Anna said in an angry tone.

“Yes.”

“I love you.” Anna said.

“Love you too.” Clyde said. I walked back into the work room and decided to continue to draw. I tried to put Clyde away from my head but it’s still disturbing me in anyway.

Suddenly the couple walked in and Anna smiled to see me.

“Sorry for earlier… it’s just Clyde didn’t tell me.”

“I asked him not too… besides we don’t have any relation at all. We’re working professionally. If you’re worried… I have a boyfriend named Sean. He’s in our team too.” I said smiling to her.

“Okay… I’m sorry about earlier. I was just so surprised.” She said and I turned to Clyde without any expression.

“It’s okay, it’s normal.” I said.

“Sorry for disturbing you two… I will wait for Clyde at Starbucks downstairs. See you at lunch.” He kissed Clyde’s cheek and then she left.

“Beverly… I-”

“You don’t need to say anything, let’s just work professionally. Besides there’s nothing between us anyway.” I looked at him coldly and continued to draw.

“Why did you lie?” I asked him without looking at him.

“I walked out to explain what happened and I heard your conversations. Why did you lie about it? You took over this project, Clyde. I was signed by Vin and Peter not you and Vin.”

“I don’t know. I don’t know why I lied.”

“You really love her, don’t you?” I asked, looking straight to his eyes.

“I don’t know.”

“Then why did you lie? A guy not suppose to lie like that. I hate working like this… I’ll tell Han that someone needs to replace me.” I hissed at him and took my bag. I was going to walk outside but he held my wrist.

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize to me, apologize to her.” I pulled my hand away from him.

“Fine! I’ll give this back to Peter, if you want.”

“That’s better because I don’t want to fight with Anna.” I hissed and when I was going to open the door. He caught me once again.

“But please… don’t leave this project. This is a big project and it’s a big opportunity for you to get a really good name and impression and… it’s the only reason that I can see you.”
