Bedmates Soulmates

CHAPTER 18

His scent enveloped her.

He was on top of her, using his arms to support his weight and avoid crushing her.

She snuggled up closer to him, safe and snug, cocooned in his warmth.

Kira had always marvelled at Austyn's stamina, but he outdid himself tonight

In the midst of overwhelming rapture, Kira still had the presence of mind to broach the subject she'd been meaning to bring up. "My dad's medical bills..."

Austyn paused.

He frowned as he looked into those beseeching eyes.

"It'll be taken care of by the end of business day tomorrow," he said with a bit of an edge in his voice.

Kira breathed out.

Mission accomplished, she closed her eyes and gave herself over to pleasure.

She felt Austyn picking up his pace.

He drilled and pounded, deep and hard.

It was like he was punishing her for some crime she'd committed unwittingly

Austyn watched Kira endure his thrusting with a look of placid submission.

A shadow flitted across his face.

Over the past year, sex was always initiated by him.

Austyn was thus secretly pleased when she batted her eyes at him.

He concluded that she must be telling the truth when, back in the dining room, she said she was taking an interest in him.

But now he realised she was just doing it for the sake of her father.

Austyn didn't want to admit to himself that his ego was a little bruised.

He discarded that unhappy thought with a snort and intensified his punishment.

Soon, it became too much for her to bear.

She whimpered tearfully and begged for mercy.

The pitiful look on her face mollified him somewhat. Austyn cased up on her. Chasing Rainbows

The next morning, Kira almost couldn't get out of bed.

Every part of her body was sore.

"What a brute!'

She massaged her thighs.

The other side of the bed was empty, but she heard the water running in the bathroom.

The sight of the rumpled sheets brought back memories of the crazy night.

Kira puffed out her cheeks.

The man was insatiable.

Kira checked herself using the front-end camera on her phone.

'Sss... she pulled a face at the sight of her neck dotted with hickeys.

It was all his fault!

The man was no longer in the army, but he'd put his physical training to good use.

Stamina, strength, not to mention the superhuman ability to catch his second wind.

After the first orgasm, she couldn't lift a finger.

But he was soon pitching another tent.

She was putty in his hands...

'Stop thinking about it!"

Kira fanned her burning cheeks.

She distracted herself with the group chat.

There were so many messages that she had to scroll up for a full minute before she found where she'd left off last night.

The questions about Austyn had grown way more personal and bizarre.

'Does he prefer briefs or boxers?'

'Willing to pay a boatload for naked pics of the sex god. Full frontal nude preferred! Backside also okay! Just give me pics!!"

Kira laughed to herself as she scanned the messages.

She imagined the look on Austyn's face if he knew so many of her classmates lusted after him.

'Hello, ladies," Kira typed. 'I'm back. Whip out your chequebooks. Have I got an exclusive for you!"

Her message whipped the group into a frenzy.

The bidding war resumed with a fever pitch.

Kira, how do you know so much about Austyn? Even Janessa, our gossip queen, doesn't have the scoop Someone soon smelled a rat.

Austyn McCarthy stood at the apex of the social pyramid.

Not a man an average Jane had access to.

Kira anticipated the question.

She was ready with an answer. "Do you know what my major is?

"Communications & Media Studies, duh. We have the same major."

'That's right. I specialise in journalism. Oriana-Fallaci is my idol. I don't need to tell you what a first-rate journo she was. I'd count myself lucky if I can have a tenth of her accomplishments one day. But I can start small. Sussing out info about famous people is a great way to hone my investigative skills. As for how I got my hands on Austyn's personal deets, sorry, a reporter never reveals her source."

Kira was in the zone.

She didn't notice the water in the bathroom had been shut off.

Austyn came out and saw Kira lying on her stomach, her fingers dancing on the phone screen.

Her slender legs were sticking out from under the cover, crossed at the ankles.

The same legs were wrapped around his waist last night.

He recalled the feel of her smooth skin as he ran a hand up her thigh.

Her eyes were half-closed, her back arched, and her lips parted to let out a silent orgasmic scream.

Now she was lying with her back to him, humming and wiggling her big toes like a kid.

The wool blanket covered her shoulders, dipping low over the small of her back before rising above the delicious curves of her buttocks.

She was being sexy without realising it.

Which turned him on instantly...

Maybe they could try something other than missionary

Austyn took no notice of his wet hair and made for the bed.

Kira was typing so fast that her fingers were starting to cramp.

'Who's Oriana Fallaci?"

Austyn's low voice was like a thunderclap to her.

Kira leapt up and spun around.

He was standing beside the bed, inches apart from her.

"The man walks with no sound!" Kira thought. "Why is he sneaking up on me?"

More importantly, how long had he been standing there?

How much did he see?

He mentioned the name 'Oriana Fallaci.'

Oh crap, did he see the rest of the message?

Kira gripped her phone, her knuckles turning white.

She was suddenly thirsty.

"Did you hear what I said? Austyn searched her face.

"Um.. huh, what?

"Who's Oriana Fallaci?

Kira swallowed.

'You saw the message?' she asked, heart in mouth.

Just the name and the word 'idol. I gather this is someone you look up to."

Phew!

Kira unclenched her fist.

She nodded. 'Yes. Oriana was one of the world's top female journalists. I worship the woman."

'Is that so?'

Austyn seemed to discover something new about his young wife each day.

Girls her age gushed about celebrities like Kayleigh or swooned over Hollywood hunks.

'You want to become a journalist?"

'Of course!' she nodded emphatically.

'You? he gave her a once-over.

What did he mean by that?

Was that a look of derision she detected?

"Yes, me." Kira drew herself up to her full height.

She put her hands on her hips. "You don't think I can be a journalist? Don't be so quick to judge. Just you wait and see. I'm going to clinch myself a Pulitzer one day."

Austyn ran his eyes over her petite frame.

The top of her head barely reached his chest.

She was standing barefoot on the rug, with arms akimbo and cheeks puffed out.

Like an angry version of Alvin the Chipmunk,

It was said that you should not judge a book by its cover.

But when Austyn looked at that kitten trying to unsheathe her claws, all he could think of was 'adorable," not 'aggressive."

He could span her tiny waist with a single hand, as he found out last night in bed.

And he bet he could lift her with one arm.

Award-winning journalists asked tough questions of tough people.

What if she ruffled her interviewee's feathers and they got mad?

What was she going to do?

Put her arms on her hips and stare them down with those big, round, anime eyes?

But if she wanted to chase rainbows, far be it from him to pour cold water on her dream. Austyn straightened up.

'If you want to be a reporter, here's your chance. I can give you an impromptu interview."
