CHAPTER FORTY ONE
Hana and Jeffran ran along the hospital hallways with pale faces and mounting concern, mouths that didn’t stop chanting prayers, tears that never stopped coming out of Hana’s eyelids. At the other end, near one of the doors to the patient room stood Rita who was comforting a baby in her arms who was crying quite loudly.
“Rita, Farrell.” Hana immediately took over the baby to calm her down, she swung slowly so that the baby’s cries subsided, but the cries were getting louder and louder.
Jeffran, who didn’t get Tamara’s presence outside with Rita and Farrell, finally decided to go into the room where David was being treated. Just as the door opened, her heart suddenly seemed to stop for a moment, the center of the earth seemed to be lost, even her own life was felt at the tip of her head. Her eyes immediately misted up, no way. Over there, beside the bed. Tamara was crying looking at the figure of a handsome man who now looks so pale, all the tools in his body have been removed.
However.
With eyes tightly closed.
“Tara?” Jeffran spoke softly, with slow steps so that he could respond to his wife’s body.
Hearing her name being called made Tamara look in the direction of Jeffran’s voice. Her cry suddenly broke.
“Jeffran! Aaaa–hiks dear. David, our David. Hiks-aaakkhh hikss. How’s it going?”
Tamara hugged Jeffran’s body very tightly, she spilled all the tears that had been coming out non-stop, the sound of groans, cries and guilt enveloped the room. Jeffran returned Tamara’s hug no less tightly, his face buried in Tamara’s shoulder which was shaking very badly. He held his tears to calm his wife’s heart even though his heart was no less painful, his heart was like being crushed into pieces. On the same day, Jeffran had to accept the departure of his two sons, even though his son went to a different place.
“Honey, be strong. Let’s let David go, shall we?”
“No Jeffran-na, this must be just a dream right? Please wake me up Jeffran, I don’t want to sleep any longer hikss–please wake me up, tell me what the doctor said to me earlier was all a lie.
Jeffran tightened his embrace without answering any of Tamara’s questions.
“David?” This time Hana entered with a blank stare and Andy who was in her arms, walking slowly as if afraid to make sure.
Hana looked right at David who was closed.
“David why? Hey wake up, look at Andy crying for you. David, why are you silent. Look at Andy now looking at you, he wants to see his father. David, you don’t listen to me? David sees Andy, this is Andy. Aren’t you happy that Andy and I are here? Look, you made mommy and daddy sad, David-ya. Open your eyes.” Hana bit her inner lip really hard, a very bad dream for her. Dream? Realize this is reality.
David didn’t answer, even David didn’t make a sound at all. He just shut his eyes silently, without a greeting, and without a single movement. Everything was stiff, David was gone. Rita said if there was a very severe infection in David’s body, moreover it caused damage to the tissues and organs of the body.
“David”
Its free
David has left and will never come back, even though Hana has called him a thousand times. Even if he will cry until his tears dry, David won’t hear her.
Because David had left them all.
One last drop fell from the tip of a leaf that was wet after the rain. Everyone is grieving, especially Tamara who is still hugging the wet ground that has buried the body of his second child. Everyone was moved when they saw Jeffran’s wife continue to sob over the child’s grave. She didn’t want to wake up, she still couldn’t believe what was going on.
Hana feels very, very guilty about this incident, last night she kept crying. Rita had already said that it wasn’t her fault, but what the heck. The shooting incident happened because of her, now she is standing with Andy in her arms. Her head was down, her eyes were puffy looking at the wet mound of earth.
Near Hana is now standing one person as well. Adriel, he’s allowed to attend this funeral. But still, there were guards following him. Adriel also felt that he came from the incident, because the beginning of the problem was him. If only he didn’t know Vania, if only he acted quickly. Then her loved ones will not experience bad things, will not experience sadness, will not even experience loss.
“Am I a really bad brother?” Adriel asked Hana who was nearby.
“Yeah, you’re a really bad brother. David is a jerk but he’s not as bad as you.” she answered with a flat gaze without looking to the side.
Adriel smiled faintly. He wasn’t angry, because that was the truth.
“What is my Son’s name?”
“He’s not your son Adriel. His name is Andy.”
“But that was when I was pregnant with David’s child, accepting what had happened. I have given up everything, I have forgiven you. But please, don’t make me hate you Adriel.”
“Hahhh-I won’t give up Hana. Wait for me when I get out of prison. Then I will chase you in the right way.”
Two people came from behind Hana and Adriel, one person standing guard near them. And one more person went to tell Jeffran that Adriel had to go back to the detention house again because time was up.
“Remember this is Hana, I love you. And this is not a joke. Andy is my son, one day I will make you fall in love with me. I will endure this love and longing alone. Maybe this is one of my punishments too. Don’t forget, stop by once in a while to see me there, take Andy too. I love you Hana.”
Adriel turned around with two officers standing guard behind him. Hana’s eyes continued to follow Adriel’s departure, which was getting further and further out of the cemetery area. Her eyes were misty for a moment, why did she cry so fast today. She had to accept everything. One had returned to a very quiet place, and the other had returned to atone for all the wrongs she had done.
When everything is going well, that’s when sadness comes. Her head looked up to see the gray sky after the rain, beautiful clouds Hana thought. That smile appeared when the round of films about her story replayed in her head, beautiful suffering, isn’t it?
“Two people who once hated me confessed their love for me. But none of them deserved me. Adriel, I’m sorry. Because I don’t love you.”
The end..
