EPISODE 33 A conversation
MOON STONE PACK
Meagan jolted up from the bed at the sound of the beeping device at 6:30 am. She had set the alarm to this particular time two days ago. She gasped out in shock when she saw ten missed call on her phone after reaching out for it.
Meagan hopped out of the bed quickly after realizing that she was one hour thirty minutes late for rehearsal. Hazel would be so mad at her for turning up late for rehearsal. She rushed into the bathroom to have the fastest bathe in record.
She was dressed for the day in an off shouldered yellow top with black skinny jeans and she paired it on a black leather boot. She didn’t bother to spend a minute on make up but managed to tidy her long hair in a ponytail plait style. She tucked her cellphone and inhaler into her bag before rushing out of the room.
The designated hall for the event wasn’t close to the guesthouse and it would take her about twenty minutes to get there.
Meagan knew her best friend would chew her out for turning up late as the chief bridesmaid. She has so much to do, leading other bridesmaids and helping her best friend out. Although Meagan already knows the function of a chief bridesmaid but at the same time she would have a hard time handling Hazel’s temper.
As soon as she stepped out of the huge glass door of the guesthouse to the dawn of a new day, she made her move to run. But her eyes caught a young man waving at her as he leaned on a car.
Meagan looked back to see if there was someone else behind her but she found no one. She arched her eyebrows and pointed a finger at herself to confirm if he was referring to her.
The young man was dressed in a denim shirt that rolled back to his forearms and he paired it on jeans and boots. When he started towards her, Meagan walked halfway to meet up with him.
And with a smile on his face he said, “Hi, I am Jones.” Holding out his hand towards her for a handshake.
She noticed the metal braces in his dentition as he smiled at her. Meagan doesn’t know him but he was polite so she has to reciprocate the politeness and not being rude. She shook hands with him.
“Meagan.”
Jones nodded as if he already knew her name.
“I am sorry.. but I don’t know you.” She said.
Jones refused to let go of her hand. “I saw you at the Halloween party but couldn’t approach you because you were busy with someone else.”
Meagan furrowed her eyebrows as she managed to release her hand from his hold. Okay, someone had seen her with the warlord. So why is he here? To find her and introduce himself? She mused.
And as if Jones was reading her mind, he said. “Hazel asked me to bring you to the location for the rehearsal. You are late.”
He know Hazel? Meagan thought. Jones turned away towards the car and Meagan followed him immediately.
“Do you know Hazel?” She asked.
“I won’t be here if I don’t know her. I am one of the groomsmen.” Jones replied.
“Has the rehearsal ended?” She asked. “Oh no.. you won’t be here to pick me up if the rehearsal has ended.” She answered her question.
“Is Hazel mad at me?” Meagan asked again but Jones gave no response. He just opened the car door and gestured told her to get into it and she did as instructed.
Jones went around the car and entered the driver seat. He started the car and it glided into motion.
“Jones, are the other bridesmaid at the location already?” Meagan said after two minutes into the drive.
Jones nodded positively. “Do you know if Hazel-”
Jones interrupted her knowing her intended question. “Hazel is pissed. There is a delay at the location. I mean the rehearsal is yet to kick off because the event planner is yet to be around plus she hasn’t been picking up her phone calls.”
“Hazel will definitely rip off my head.” Meagan mumbled but enough for Jones to hear her.
“I am sure she won’t lash out on you like she did with the other bridesmaids who were a minute late because you are her best friend.” Jones glanced at her for a second before focusing on the road ahead.
“That makes it worse. Hazel is going to chew me out alive. The fact that she called me ten times and I didn’t pick out.” Meagan heaved a sigh as she took out her cellphone from her bag.
“Yes Hazel was worried when you didn’t pick up. She mentioned something about you having an attack. It scared the hell out of me so I accepted to come pick you up. Are you okay?” Jones asked.
Meagan wondered why a man she doesn’t even know was scared for her. She shook her head to his question. “Yes, I am fine.”
“Good to hear. The attendant didn’t let me into the guesthouse to check on you. So I was waiting for the alpha to put a call through to them when you stepped out.” Jones explained.
“I didn’t see anyone at the reception desk. But thank you for accepting to pick me up.” Meagan said.
“You are welcome.” Jones replied.
Meagan clicked on her cellphone with the thought of putting a call through to Hazel at least to assure her that she was doing fine and to also have a better chance of not getting chewed out in the presence of other bridesmaids and groomsmen.
If only Hazel knew that her best friend had a steamy night with a warlord and had forgotten to set the alarm at the appropriate time. The sure thing is that Meagan would never mention the adventure with the warlord to her best friend. Sparks flew within her when she remembered the night spent with the warlord and she found herself thinking about him and everything they had done together.
Meagan sighed out loud.
“Meagan, if you don’t mind can we have a conversation instead of this silence and you sighing out loud?” Jones requested.
“I am sorry.. but I am not good at starting up conversations.” Meagan apologized.
Jones raised his eyebrows. “You don’t need to apologize. I am pretty good at starting up a conversation.”
Meagan just simply nodded her head.
“You slipped away from the Halloween party so quickly that I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself to you.” Jones said.
“Well I didn’t know someone was looking out to meet me. I went to the party with no expectation of meeting anyone.” Meagan replied with a shrug.
“But you met a charming warlord.” Jones smiled. And she looked away so quickly when their gaze met.
“I hope you had a great time with him?” Jones asked.
Perhaps does he know about her fling with the warlord? Has he been following them around? Meagan pondered.
“We.. we didn’t do much together. We just had a few drinks, ate in a garden, got interrupted by a peacock who spilled drink on my dress and I went off to the ladies toilet to clean up. I saw Hazel and then had to say goodnight because I was tired.” Megan breathed out heavily after rushing out her words. It almost sounded like she was blabbing.
“Doesn’t sound fun to me.” Jones commented.
“I enjoyed the party.” Meagan muttered.
“How? Is it that fun or is it because of the warlord? Did you even get to dance with him that night?” Jones demanded.
Yes she had fun because of the warlord and she had a dance with him in his apartment followed by a passionate kiss, making out at the pool and then a steamy sex night with him.
Meagan wondered why this man kept emphasizing on her time with the warlord. Perhaps has he been stalking her? She was curious to find out if he knows anything else but she waved off the thought.
Meagan decided to act like she didn’t have anything to do with the warlord.
“I didn’t get the chance to do anything with him.” Meagan answered.
When he mentioned having a conversation she didn’t know it would be just about her and the time spent with a warlord.
“How close are we to the hall?” Meagan asked.
“We are almost there.” Jones answered.
They lapsed into silence but he broke it off soon.
