EPISODE THIRTY FIVE
THEME: Water
DARK WOOD PACK
(Avery’s Point of View)
It has been about three days since I woke up at the infirmary only to find out that I don’t have an idea about my identity aside the fact that I am a werewolf.
I have been checked by the doctor and diagnosis stated that I might possibly be suffering from amnesia and I may never be able to regain my memory. The chance of remembering my past was so slim and I shouldn’t try force it or else I will suffer great pain.
Doctor Jenny words confirmed that I was indeed stuck in this unknown pack. I was now a new creature or a being. I couldn’t stop wondering if I had a past that I was trying to run away from or secrets I would truly want to erase from my memory.
I couldn’t stop crying at the realization of it. But when there was no tears left to cry, I decided to accept my fate. Nothing would probably change the fact that I had lost my memory. And nobody has been able to come around to claim me as a native of a pack.
This made the good alpha decide to take me under his wings. I had no where to go so I didn’t have a choice than to accept the offer to live with Alpha Riley. He made me promise him that I would do a great job at getting better.
Although something was strange about alpha Riley. He reside in small cottage somewhere far from his pack, all alone. We haven’t had much time to talk because he is always locked up in his office while I lay in bed all day until he comes around to check on me close to dinner time..
I have no information about him. I know nothing about him. But mere looking at Alpha Riley, you can tell that he is a sad and dejected werewolf. The harshness in his glare as he speaks and stare always cut deep into my soul and it kind of scares my wolf. I knew I was a lost wolf found by a dangerous looking alpha.
Anyone barely comes to his house aside doctor Jenny to run a quick check up on me and then an aged werewolf who gives reports to the alpha.
The truth is Alpha Riley run the affairs of the pack right in this cottage. Dark Wood Pack was a small pack but it seemed powerful and unique in its own way. I know this little from hearing the alpha and the aged werewolf talking about the slight increase in the pack’s populace yesterday evening.
The door swung open revealing the alpha at the entrance. He was dressed in a black polo and khaki trouser. It is time to take me to the kitchen for dinner.
“Good evening, alpha Riley.” I greeted him as I dropped the book I was reading on the bed.
I can walk but the alpha chooses to carry me around and a maid has been assigned to help me bathe daily. She comes around 6:00 a. m and leaves by 9:00 a. m after preparing breakfast and making sure that I take my medication.
“Good evening water.” Alpha Riley walked to the bed.
Water? Well he calls me water because I don’t know my name and I was found in the water.
“How do you feel?” Alpha Riley bend over to touch my forehead just to feel my temperature but I dodged him.
“I am fine. Thank you.” I answered.
Can he stop showing too much care when I know he could switch up on me anytime?
Alpha Riley withdrew his hand. “Good. Dinner is ready.” He said.
I shook my head in understanding. “Please can I try walking myself today?” I looked up to meet his gaze.
Alpha Riley expression hardened. “No.” He replied. He reached down, gathered me in his arms and then he carried me in a bridal style.
“You know.. I didn’t lose my legs in the water.” I said in a tight whisper.
“You should stay still and don’t try anything stupid.” Alpha Riley replied.
I swallowed hard. “Doctor Jenny advice that I can try out so many things now.” I reminded him.
Alpha Riley didn’t say anything as we entered into the kitchen. “You’ll only do as I say until you get better.” He stated in a commanding tone as he dropped me gently on the stool close to the island.
I bit the inside of my cheeks as I nodded my head in understanding. I don’t want to experience his wrath. The alpha would be really furious if I disobey him and I don’t want him throwing me out of the pack. I could feel his eyes on me as I sat there fiddling my fingers.
“Listen, I am not trying to control you. I am just worried about you getting hurt again. So give yourself some time to heal completely.” Alpha Riley pushed a plate of food to me.
I didn’t utter a word. I took the spoon and scooped food into my mouth. We ate in silence until I announced that I was full. Alpha Riley picked the plates and took them to the sink to wash them.
But after some minutes later, I noticed the way the alpha took several deep breathes, the way he flexed his arms and the movement made it stretch the fabrics of the polo, the way he dropped his hands, turned off the tap and pressed both hands on the edge of the sink.
He lowered his head and my wolf sensed his pain. “Are you alright, Alpha Riley?” I asked but got no response.
I knew something was wrong. Alpha Riley was bothered about something I can’t tell and he probably can’t say it.
“You.. can tell me about it.” I said loud enough for him to hear me.
I wanted to try my luck to get him to talk to me. “You may not see me as someone who you can confide in but.. it is always better to share your disturbing thoughts with someone.” I rubbed my palms together. Well I hope he opens up to me. I really want to get to know him.
“Perhaps is this about me? I know it is tiring to watch over me.” I mumbled.
Alpha Riley turned to look at me. The look on his face says what-the-hell-are-you-talking-about. Maybe this doesn’t concern me.
“Thank you for saving my life and for taking me in.” This is the first time I am expressing my gratitude to him.
The alpha just stood there watching me. I looked away from him. “Is there a way I can repay you for saving my life?” I asked.
“Well I doubt it if I’ll ever be able to repay you.” I added quickly when no response came from him.
Alpha Riley sat on the stool facing me directly. “Are you sure that you want to repay me?”
I shook my head. “I don’t have any money. But when I get better I can serve the pack.” I replied.
“Alright but that’s aside. I’ll tell you a brief story about myself. And I’ll also state what I want from you. Remember that you can’t back down on your words.” Alpha Riley pointed a finger at me with a stern look on his face.
“Okay.” I mumbled.
Alpha Riley leaned back and folded his arms over his chest. “I am a thirty seven years old wolf. I have lived my life without regrets but everything changed when someone very important in my life died.” He narrated.
“Who died?” I asked knowing that it could be any female or male in his life.
His hands dropped and he leaned his elbows on the island. “My mate.” Alpha Riley answered.
