EPISODE SIXTEEN
THEME: A surprise in advance
TWO YEARS LATER
IN AVERY’S APARTMENT
(Avery’s Point of View)
When I woke up the bed was empty. I wrinkled my nose and pulled the soft bed cover off my body. As I climbed out of bed, I stared at the long black t-shirt that was clearly Kayden’s. I had taken two t-shirts from his closet the last time I visited the pack.
I went into the bathroom to pee before making my way out of the room. The smell of toast and eggs drifted in the air. I followed the delicious smell to the kitchen and smiled a little as I watched Kayden move around smoothly. He only does this cooking of a thing whenever he is at my apartment.
And when he noticed me, his eyebrows rose and he nodded to the barstool next to the island.
“Have a seat, breakfast is almost ready.” Kayden instructed.
I plopped on the seat. “My stomach is so empty as if I didn’t eat to bed last night.” I drank the glass of water he passed to me.
“I am almost done.” Kayden announced.
“Woah! You are so good at everything.” I teased when he passed a plate of toast and egg to me.
“Is that a compliment or you are toying with me again?” Kayden chuckled.
“A compliment.” I winked.
Kayden placed his right hand on his chest and closed his eyes. “I like it when you wink at me that way.”
“Oh! There you go again!” I giggled.
Kayden came over to me and hugged me from behind. “How about we go on a date today?” He purred into my ears as I munch on my breakfast.
“I’d love to go on a date with you but not today.” I replied.
Kayden scrunched up his face. “Why?”
“I have a make up test by 10 p. m.” I answered.
Kayden wasn’t happy but he didn’t have a choice. This is the life that his mate has signed up for.
“How long will that take?” Kayden asked.
“Not.. too long. But I have classes till five in the evening.” I responded.
Kayden grumbled. “I was expecting to spend most of the days with you.”
“I told you that I am so booked for this week. But next week is lecture free week.” I ate the toast.
“But I’ll be so busy next week too. I have to prepare for the general meeting of alpha sons. They are trying to choose someone who will stand in gap for everyone.” Kayden explained.
“I also have to prepare for my final exams that’s taking place in two weeks time.” I said.
Kayden shook his head. “Yeah.. I saw your schedules.”
I got down from the barstool, moved to the refrigerator to pour myself a drink.
“How about you come with me to the pack? You can study in my private library. And that way I get to see you everyday for a whole week.” Kayden suggested.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I declined.
Kayden furrowed his eyebrows. “Why?”
“Seeing you will distract me from studying. This is my final exam in college so I have to prepare real hard for it.” I reminded him.
“You are right. But I won’t distract you. I’ll be busy with pack affairs and meetings. And I also have to finish up the project I have been working on all these years.” Kayden came closer to me.
I shook my head in disagreement.
“Come on Avery, everyone misses you at the pack.” He held my hands up and kissed them. “Say.. yes.. please. And I promise not to distract you from studying. I’ll be a good boy.” His eyes pleaded with me.
I laughed out loud. “Alright.. alright…I’ll come with you to the pack.”
Kayden smile grew wider. “Yes!”
“But on one condition-” I announced.
Kayden growled. “What do you want love? Anything at all and I will get it done.” He said with pride in his tone as his knuckles caressed my chin gently.
“We get to run in the woods under the moonlight.” I stated.
Kayden chuckled. “Just that?”
I nodded. “A run.” I mouthed.
“Deal!” He kissed my lips.
“I am patiently waiting on the day of your graduation, I have a very huge surprise for you.” Kayden said.
“What is it?” I asked.
“A surprise.” Kayden winked and walked out of the kitchen.
“Come on, give me a hint.” I matched his strides.
“Don’t be impatient. Your convocation is just about a month away right?” I nodded in agreement.
My mate has the date saved up in his head. Why? He has been patiently waiting for me to graduate so we can finally complete the mate bond.
“Will you ask me to marry you again?” I asked trying to get him to spill the surprise.
“You’ll be late for school.” Kayden sat on the couch.
“Kayden,” I called him.
Kayden looked at my puppy face as I sat close to him.
“Don’t give me that look.” He leaned closer and pressed a kiss to my lips.
I returned the kiss softly before he broke it off and landed it at the right side of my cheeks.
