DARK MOON PACK

Edda’s Point Of View

I didn’t bother taking my car keys because I wasn’t in a good note to drive. I walked down to the building of affairs and the cool breeze really helped to calm my nerves and my aching head.

“And here we are at the building of affairs.” I huffed before climbing up the steps.

I let out a handful of breathes and did the exhaling and inhaling process over and over again. Some male wolves bowed as they greeted me and I acknowledged them. Riley should be in his office by this time. I thought glancing down at my wrist watch. The closed door meeting should start in an hour.

“Luna Edda.” I heard a familiar voice call out my name as I climbed up the last step.

I looked up to see Beta Jones. “Good morning, Luna Edda.” He greeted.

“Good morning, Beta Jones.” I managed to smile. I noticed that more officials were coming out of the building instead of going inside in preparation for the closed door meeting.

“You are here to see the alpha right?” Beta Jones said in a low tone.

“Yes. What’s going on?” I asked pointing to some officials who stopped to bow to me.

“The closed door meeting has been postponed again.” Beta Jones answered.

“Again? What do you mean by again?” I demanded with a raised eyebrow.

“I have been postponing the meetings for days now on the orders of the alpha. He has been refusing to see anyone for close to four days now. I checked on him this morning using my spare key to his office and I found him unconscious and deadly drunk not too long ago.” Beta Jones explained.

My eyes widened in shock. My husband was unconscious and drunk but I didn’t know. What if I didn’t decide to come check on him? Plus Riley had lied about being busy. I knew right from time it was an excuse to avoid having a conversation with me.

“Theta Jenny is attending to him right now. But he told me not to let you know about it. Luna, is there something wrong? I have tried to get the alpha to talk to me but he won’t speak up.” Beta Jones looked perturbed.

“Where is my husband?” I asked.

“He is in his office.” Beta Jones replied.

Riley is not going to escape giving me an explanation. I need to know why he drank himself to stupor. If this is about Alexander’s mate then he needs to tell me his reason for being so adamant and unreasonable.

“Luna-”

I walked off at a close run before Beta Jones could even say his next words. My wolf felt offended by Riley’s cold attitude. We might not be destined mates but we have a connection. We did the proper mating rituals and even got married at the small church in the pack. Five months after the birth of Alexander, we were able to consummate our marriage and the connection was made complete. I have tried to be the best wife to my husband and a good mother to my children. But even after all these years I still don’t understand why Riley seemed so distant from me.

Riley doesn’t tell me things even as the Luna of the pack. He prefers to share it with his old friends especially theta Jenny. They are so close that I often get jealous but there is nothing I can do about it. I have to always find out what’s going on in his head either from theta Jenny or Beta Jones which is pretty annoying. And to top it all, Riley and I hardly get intimate. I have tried so hard to make us have another pup of our own before we adopted Elena but Riley’s avoidance won’t make things work out. I gave up trying to give birth after Riley made it clear about not wanting me to have another pup. He said that he doesn’t want me to go through the pain of delivery again. Riley claimed that he can’t bear to see me in pains but staying away and not seeing me as someone he could confide in are a whole bundle of pains.

Most times if I am in heat, I have to use medication and stay at home for days. If it happens that Alex is around, I have to stay locked up in my room and control my arousal. The heat medication has been my solution because my husband doesn’t come home that much. I remember texting him during heat that I couldn’t bear it and I wanted him. The response I got was sending Theta Jenny to give me more medication, keep me company and put me to sleep. Alex was still so young that year, so I had to stay in the bathroom. Hearing theta Jenny knocking on the door made me send a threat to my husband. I told him that I was going to come out into the opening and come find him.

And fortunately my threat worked on him. I only opened the door after I heard him sending off theta Jenny. Riley knew the consequences of a wolf in heat coming out in the opening. My arousal would definitely attract other wolves around and he would have to watch the lust in their eyes and the image of them sexing the Luna in their heads. Well the threat worked for a couple of months before I settled and accepted my fate of using the heat medication.

This is how I have been living my life throughout the years with the man I married. Sometimes, I doubt if Riley truly loves me and I also tried to imagine my life if I had left the pack after the birth of my child.

Will my life be better than this? Will I have found my destined mate? Will I get the chance to see my only child?

The answers to these questions was so clear to me. I can’t live a good life knowing that my son was being raised without me. Growing up to watch Alexander and Elena has been the best thing that has ever happened in life. I can’t trade my children for anything else in the world. I live for my children. I’ll only be happy if they are happy and doing well.
