two pairs of eyes staring at Tony received a scowl in response. “Why are you both looking at me like that?”
“Is it really okay to do Daddy dirty like that, Tony?” Ben couldn’t help but ask in a subdued voice.
“I…”
Before he could respond, Thalia interceded. “You can’t put it that way. I believe you’ll achieve great things in the future, Tony. If you dare to stand up to your own father, there’s no telling what else you can accomplish. I’m sure Darknetz would prosper with you at the helm!” With that, Thalia patted him proudly on the shoulder.
The money Alpha Kilian stood to make was as good as theirs, but Tony was creating an opportunity for Darknetz itself by taking it for redistribution!
The very thought of that left Thalia profoundly impressed once again.
Such selflessness! When I get back in, I must have a proper chat with Sam about this!
Tony took a deep breath as he regarded them. “First of all, I’ve already been targeting those people and that stuff in the past. The only difference is that I had no idea why Daddy suddenly tried to get involved. In that respect, I’m not actually stealing from him. Secondly, Daddy doesn’t care about this. He’s just doing someone else a favor. If that’s the case, then why can’t we make a move on it ourselves?” Tony asked.
Ben and Thalia were stumped by his words.
“I’m not doing it just for the sake of it. This has been part of my plan all along. While I could have looked away and given it up, what happens next? Should Darknetz’s development ever conflict with Daddy in the future, are we supposed to back off every single time?”
Thalia was stunned by Tony’s poise and thought his reasoning made sense. “Good reasoning. I second it!”
At that moment, Tony turned to Ben. “If Daddy were to uncover the truth behind what happened today in the future, I believe he would also consider it fair competition.”
“But… is this fair, really?” Ben countered.
“What winning strategy isn’t? It’s fair game, as long as we’ve outdone him through our own efforts!” replied Tony.
“Such a complicated issue summed up so succinctly. I’m sold!” Thalia agreed. “What else can I say? Let’s do this!”
Tony maintained his stillness as he looked toward Ben with a solemn expression. “We’ll go with whatever you decide, Ben. The deal is off if you say we should retreat.”
Surprisingly, Ben replied, “Retreat? We have to succeed, for if we fail, it would be too embarrassing if Daddy finds out in the future.”
Tony grinned. “That goes without saying!”
Thalia was quietly astounded. She had assumed Ben would have a different take on it and didn’t expect him to be so easily convinced.
While she observed the duo work out their plan, Thalia couldn’t help but think that it might be better not to have children who were too smart for their own good, as they might end up going against their own father.
By the time Thalia approached, they had already concluded their strategizing.
“How did it go? Have you decided how to execute this?” Thalia got straight to the point. I’d be able to skip all the brainstorming with them around!
Tony replied, “We’ll hang back until all the goods are loaded up. Daddy and his associates will definitely part ways at that point. Then, you’ll take over,” Tony said, smiling at Thalia.
Thalia narrowed her eyes in response.
Then, Tony spoke into the microphone. “Have you figured out their route yet, Donna?”
Inside the car, Donna’s fingers were flying across the keyboard. Seconds later, she replied, “Yeah. I got it.”
“Send me the address.”
“Done.”
Activating his watch to study the route, Tony’s brows furrowed. “What’s the matter?”
“This route won’t be easy for us to work with, so we’ll have to strike as early as possible,” Tony said.
“As early as possible?” Thalia looked around. “That means we can only make our move near the dock. The problem is that Alpha Kilian is still down here…”
After briefly considering it, Tony turned to Ben with a narrowed gaze. “Ben…”
Ben immediately understood what was on his brother’s mind and smiled sheepishly. “Surely you can’t be that callous, right?”
“You know I don’t want to either, but we don’t have a choice here!” Tony said.
“But it’s going to be really awkward!”
“You’ll get used to it eventually, so learn to get along!” Tony reassured him. “Shouldn’t we send Donna instead? I’m sure she’ll handle it like a pro,” Ben suggested.
“There isn’t enough time for that!” Tony insisted.
Ben’s brows remained furrowed, and he looked very distressed.
At that moment, Thalia looked at them in confusion. “What are you guys going on about? I can’t understand any of this!”
