Chapter 17
Chapter 17 It seemed that blake wasn't aware that the man before her was the esteemed Zayn Carter of Havenpoint. She remained unfazed, devoid of the trepidation and deference exhibited by her colleagues.
Blake adjusted her glasses as she asked with a puzzled tone, "You were unaware that the patient has stomach cancer? Are you sure you're a relative of hers?"
Before Zayn could utter a word, Blake furrowed her brow and remarked, "She's in such agonizing pain and yet, she still refuses to take any medication! She's truly taking her own health for granted!"
Zayn's body froze, his mind struggling to grasp the overwhelming emotions that surged through him.
He was unaware that Willow had late-stage stomach cancer.
Yet, there was one thing he was well aware of. Willow didn't refuse to take her medication. Instead, he had thrown away her pill, preventing her from taking it. Zayn's heart was gripped by an excruciating torment as he recalled Willow's hopeless expression, futilely reaching for the pill at the window.
With a vice-like grip, he clutched his chest, yet the relentless agony persisted, sending uncontrollable spasms through his body.
Never in his life had be experienced such excruciating pain After he had taken her against her will, she retched violently, her vomit streaked with blood. Instead of comforting her, he found her repulsive. She pleaded incessantly, insisting that she wasn't defiled but merely ill.
It turned out that she was indeed sick our relationship with the patient? Are you a family member? If not, please find her family so that they can be with her before she passes away.
"She won't die!"
Zayn suddenly became extremely agitated. With a sudden jerk, he lifted his head, his eyes bloodshot and fixed on Blake who was standing before him.
Zayn's glare frightened Blake so much that it caused her legs to burde, nearly causing her to collapse.
"I won't let her die! No one can take her away from me!"
Blake took a step back, maintaining a sate distance from Zayn, and spoke hesitantly, "Sir, I implore you to accept the reality of the situation. Given her state, a week is the most we can hope for. It's time for you to prepare for the inevitable."
After saying that, Blake, fearing that Zayn might have another outburst, stole a quick glance at him and hurried off to the nearby office.
It was fortunate that Blake was quick on her feel. If she had been any slower, Zayn would have seriously considered breaking her neck to stop her from spouting nonsense.
At that moment, Zayn suddenly recalled a conversation he had with Willow.
"Zayn, have you ever wondered why weddings put such importance on wedding rings?
"It's because it symbolizes etemity and everlasting love!
"When we exchange our vows, I want to slip on a wedding ring too-to signify our eternal, everlasting love. Zayn, I want to spend the rest of my life with you." Zayn jolted back to reality.
Willow had promised to spend the rest of her life with him! She would never leave him!
Zayn went into a frenzy, pulling Willow into his arms as soon as she was pushed out of the emergency room.
Zayn kept telling himself that as long as Willow could still live a healthy life and was willing to spend the rest of her life with him, he would do anything for her,
No matter how she had betrayed their relationship and regardless of any wrongdoings she had done in the past, he would still love her and treat her as his beloved
as long as she was alive.
When Willow regained consciousness, it was already the following morning.
As she drifted in and out of consciousness, reminiscent of her previous experience, she felt @pair of warm, reassuring hands tightly holding hers. A soothing, adfectionate voice echoed in her ears, softly calling out "Lolo" repeatedly, like a soothing lullaby.
Willow thought she was dreaming again. Yet, when she opened her eyes, she was met with Zayn's bloodshot gaze.
"Zayn?"
Willow stated at Zayn in disbelief.
Suddenly, she dropped her gaze and let out a self-deprecating laugh. "I OV must be dreaming again. I can't believe that I dreamed of Zayn returning to my side."
