Age Is Just a Number

Chapter 8

William’s POV:

“They say one slice leads to two slices, and before I know it, I’ll be addicted to pizza,” she responds.

“Just one slice, Angel. I won’t tell your parents.”

“Promise?” she squeaks.

He places his forehead on hers. “Promise.”

“Oh, my God.” Drew released a breath. “Are you fucking shitting me?” He throws both arms in the air.

She smiles and takes a bite, her eyes widening. Before we knew it, she kept eating. How the fuck do she and Zara eat so damn much?

Misha walked towards her and led her to the bathroom to wash up. Drew heads to Anthony, who’s staring at the little girl. He snaps his fingers in front of Anthony’s face.

“What?”

“She is… You can’t…No!”

Anthony smacked his wiggling finger away. “I’m just trying to help her find her family,” he responds.

“Why the fuck are the two of you here?” He growls at the two men walking in. They work for Anthony’s mother.

“Your mother would like to meet with you,” one of them said, and I leaned back, watching the show

“Tell her to fuck herself,” he spat back.

“Master Anthony, we have a message for you.”

“What?”

One of them clears his throat: “Enough playing around; I need you to start taking the family business.

seriously.”

Anthony ran his fingers through his hair, his face reddened with anger. Lately, his mother has been bothering him to take over as the Italian Mafia business shit, and he doesn’t want to do it. That’s all. He doesn’t want to do it. “Get the fuck out!”

They bow and walk out I notice Angelica running towards him. Instantly, he kneels, and she runs in for a hug. Huh, who knew Anthony knew how to hug? He hugs and smiles today, and I wonder if money will

grow on trees. She muffles something, and he looks happy.

She sat down on the couch, and everyone started questioning her. My phone rings. I looked at the screen and decided to take it outside. “Hey there, Angel.”

“Muffin, when are you going to come back?” Her sweet voice rings in my ear.

And bang, those chỉ chi pop up out of nowhere.

I ran my fingers through my hair. “I think I’m going to go home late. I am going to hang out with my friends a bit longer.”

There was silence on the other side of the phone, and this uncomfortable knot occurred inside my stomach. It always appears whenever I feel that Zara is unhappy, and right now, she isn’t happy. “Okay.” Her voice dripped with disappointment. “Bye.”

Before I can respond, she ends our call. I know I’m going to get those cute pouty lips for the next few days. I stand there, staring at my screen. It’s a picture of when Zara and I went to the zoo. I won her a giant wolf, and she smiled the whole day, hugging it. It’s a picture of Zara kissing my cheek after I earned her the wolf, and Momma caught the photo.

I walk, more like dragging my legs, back inside, taking a seat beside Angelica since it’s the only empty seat. Her eyes went down toward my screen. “Who is she?” She points at the phone screen while hiding behind Anthony.

I look at the screen and chuckle to myself. “My Angel.”

Everyone rolls their eyes, knowing exactly who I mean, except Misha, who’s still glaring at me. They resume asking her questions, and soon she falls asleep while Anthony rubs her back.

While she’s sleeping, we wait for the police. We aren’t doing anything illegal right now, so we should

be in the clear.

“Can we talk?” Misha asked me and everyone else. let out an “Ohhhh.”

“Uh, sure.” I stand up, walking into an empty room with her.

She pushes me down on the bed. “What the fuck?” I mumble as she unbuttons me, zipping down my

zipper.

“Let’s fuck,” she said. She took off her shirt, revealing her sweet C cup.

I shrug, “Sure.” I mean, a hot girl is sitting on top of me, and I’m not in a relationship, so why not?

Thrusting inside of Misha, l/push her head down on the bed, my pants around my thighs, hearing her moans. I’m pretty sure everyone outside knows what we are doing, but who cares? They know we are fuck

buddies.

I shut my eyes, feeling the pleasant sensation, and suddenly, like a fucking hard brick, Zara’s face

pops out of nowhere, and I stop. “W–What’s wrong?” Misha’s breathing is hard.

“N–Nothing,” I replied, pushing her face back into the bed and continuing my motion.

I grab her hair, pulling it lightly, hearing her release a loud moan of pleasure. “William!” she shouts my name, but for some reason, it feels wrong. It always feels wrong when the girls scream my name, so I push her head farther down to shut her up.

“Damn it,” I hissed. I pulled out and threw away the condom.

She turned toward me. “Something wrong?”

I pulled up my pants, “I just… you…nothing,” I said, and headed towards the bathroom.

Sitting on the ground, I stare at my bulge, wondering what the fuck is wrong with me! Running my fingers through my hair, I hit my head back on the cabinet. My phone buzzed. “What?” I scowl.

“Um, I just want to apologize for hanging up earlier.” She sounds like she wants to cry.

“Oh! No! I’m sorry, Zara! I didn’t mean to yell,” I reassured her.

She takes a sniff, and I pray she isn’t crying. “Are you okay?” she whispers.

I sat on the bathroom tiles, leaning back against the cabinets, and continued talking to her. I can hear her laughing on the other side of the phone. Everything always feels better when I speak to Zara.

Sometimes, I wonder, maybe if we were the same age–no! Big brother, William! Big brother!

I hear police sirens, but I ignore them and continue talking to Zara. “Um, I was thinking of going home. early today.” I scratch the back of my neck.

“What about your friends?” she asks. I can hear a pen clicking in the background.

“I spend enough time with them,” I reply. “Want to go to the park?”

“Yes,” she responds slowly.

I couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll see you then, Angel.”

“Bye, Muffin.”

I stand up and button my pants. I looked in the mirror to make sure Misha didn’t leave any marks. I grab the shirt from the floor and wear it, scanning my body one more time just in case. When I walk out, nearly everyone is gone. “You’re still here? I thought you left hours ago!” Marvin said, shoving some pizza

Into his mouth.

“About to leave,” I whistle out, grabbing my keys.

“Misha left a while ago,” Drew unnecessarily stated.

“Oh, okay,” I responded.

“Meeting that little girl?” he asks.

“None of your business.”

Hopping Inside my car, I drive home. When I reach her house, I knock on the door. It opens, revealing Mr. Lee, who smiles at me, and I can smell the alcohol radiating off his body. “How can I help you, William?” hé chirped.

“Zara and I were supposed to go to the park today?” I respond, tilting my head to the side to see if she is in there, I saw someone, probably Zara, poke her head out, and I could see her hair was a mess, but she quickly hid

now.”

He shakes his head, a flat line on his lips. “Sorry, Willam, maybe another day; Zara is in trouble right

My brows furrow together. “Trouble? What did she do?”

“She didn’t do her chores, so she isn’t allowed to go out,” he responds. I can hear a short whimper coming from the stairs. I tilt my head again to see if it’s Zara, but Mr.Lee is blocking my way. “Maybe you can go to the park with her next time.” He smiles again and slams the door in my face.

I didn’t know what to do except go back home. I throw my stuff on the bed and open my curtains to see Zara’s curtains. Grabbing my phone, I called her a few times, but she didn’t pick up.

Throwing myself on the bed, I stare at the ceiling. Maybe I should’ve hung out with her this morning instead of going into hiding; my phone buzzed.

Angel: I’m sorry, we couldn’t go to the park together. I forgot to do my chores; maybe next time.

Muffin: How come you didn’t pick up my phone calls earlier?

I I sat there, staring at the phone, until there was a response. I stare at the clock, and it changes one minute after another. Finally, after fifteen minutes, she replies.

Angel: I was busy doing my chores.”
