chapter 2 It's been used, I don't think so
Early the next morning.
Olivia Xia, dressed in a white shirt paired with jeans, her long black hair cascading loosely behind her, glanced at herself in the black-framed glasses she had worn for three years. She tossed them into the trash can with indifference.
It was a gift from Steven Lu when she went abroad three years ago. He said he liked her quiet and scholarly look with glasses.
Olivia Xia took a taxi back to the Xia Family home.
As soon as she entered the house, she saw Emma Xia, holding hands with Steven, sitting in the living room, discussing their engagement with Olivia's parents.
Seeing Olivia return with her suitcase, a peculiar look passed through Steven's eyes.
However, Emma Xia got up with a smile and said, "Olivia, you're back! You said you'd be here last night. Why are you just coming back today?"
Olivia gave Emma a sharp glance and said, "Doesn't my sister understand the situation?"
"Sorry, I don't understand what you mean," Emma blinked her eyes with a hint of helplessness.
"Keep pretending," Olivia sneered.
She had investigated the situation at the hotel yesterday and found out that Emma had been in contact with Steven's so-called good friend. The surveillance footage had been tampered with, so she couldn't get concrete evidence last night, but it was enough to prove Emma's involvement in this matter.
"Olivia, since you're back, there's something we need to discuss," stepmother Mia Zhao got up and said with a smile, glancing at Tyrone Xia.
Tyrone Xia cleared his throat and looked at Olivia displeased, saying, "Didn't you hear your aunt talking to you? Come over here."
Olivia took a few steps forward, feeling puzzled by her father's intentions.
She still held some hope for her father, who had been very affectionate towards her before her mother's severe illness, but he had changed completely after the stepmother entered their lives.
Up to this point, Olivia still hoped that her father would stand up for her.
But Tyrone Xia said with a stern face, "You've seen it. Steven and your sister have been together for a year, and they are currently planning their engagement. As for you, you've been abroad for so many years, and you're not getting any younger. Your aunt and I have prepared a marriage proposal for you. Get ready and come with me to meet the Young Master of Si Family tonight."
"Which Young Master of Si Family?" Olivia asked.
"Of course, it's the Young Master of Si Family, Tim Si, the first-class family in Jianglin City," Emma Xia smiled and said, "You're lucky to have caught the eye of the Young Master of Si Family. Si Family is beyond our league."
While the Xia Family was considered upper-class in Jianglin City, they couldn't compare to the top- tier Si Family.
"You mean that playboy who caused a fatal accident three years ago, just got out of prison and is now looking to get married?" Olivia said with a mocking smile, "What a wonderful proposal."
Mia Zhao's expression stiffened for a moment, then she smiled and said, "Olivia, we're thinking about your future. The Young Master of Si Family has turned over a new leaf, but he's had a streak of bad luck recently. Si Family believes that marrying you will bring them good luck. They won't treat you unfairly."
"So... to marry me off to Si Family, you secretly turned my boyfriend into my future brother-in-law?" Olivia's gaze fell on Steven, her tone filled with sarcasm.
Steven's face darkened. "Olivia, if you hadn't been so reckless and kept humiliating me with infidelity abroad, how could I..."
He stopped mid-sentence, and Emma Xia's expression soured. Steven quickly changed his tune, "Emma is gentle, considerate, and well-behaved. I like her. Do I have to patiently wait for you to return and offer yourself to me?"
Her?
Reckless and unfaithful?
Thinking back to last night, Olivia recalled everything and glanced at the triumphant Emma. She seemed to understand what had happened.
What a clever scheme.
She, who had been longing to reunite with her beloved, hadn't realized she was being cleverly manipulated.
"If you really valued me, you wouldn't be in such a hurry to find someone else..." Steven said, ending with a disgusted look.
Olivia felt a sharp pain in her heart but chuckled softly. "Well, I find used men to be dirty."
"As for my marriage, you don't need to worry about it."
She dragged her suitcase upstairs.
In her room on the second floor, Olivia found that everything had been changed. None of her belongings remained; they had all been replaced with Emma's.
Recalling the scene by the French windows last night, Olivia sneered.
"Olivia, I thought this room hadn't been used in three years and might get old, so I came to help you use it. All your stuff is in the guest room. Since you're going to marry into the Si Family soon, why don't you just make do with the guest room for one night?" Emma stood proudly outside the door, holding hands with Steven.
Olivia glanced at her and didn't say a word. She turned and went to the guest room, where she found the box containing her cherished belongings.
Olivia clutched the household registration book she shared with her mother in her hand for a while before leaving. She looked coldly at the smug Emma Xia and said, "Before I return home tonight, move your things out of my room, or..."
"You'll face the consequences."
Olivia went to the Civil Affairs Bureau, and it happened to be ten in the morning.
As soon as she got out of the car, she spotted a tall and handsome figure in a black shirt amidst the crowd.
If it weren't for Steven Lu saying that this man was a hotel waiter and the employee card she had just happened to find at the hotel's entrance, Olivia wouldn't have believed that such a stunning
man, with looks that could kill and a cold aura that resembled a domineering CEO, could really be a waiter.
Seemingly aware of Olivia's intense gaze, the man turned his head and looked at her. When he saw her pure and elegant appearance, his lips couldn't help but curve into a faint smile.
"Xavier Si," the man's voice was magnetic, tinged with a hint of laziness.
His last name was Si as well?
Olivia's lips curved into a lazy smile. "Olivia."
Xavier nodded slightly.
At the right moment, Olivia handed him an agreement. "Mr. Si, before proceeding with the marriage registration, you might want to take a look at this. If you find it reasonable, we can sign it and go inside."
Xavier looked surprised as he accepted the agreement, flipping through it briefly. His gaze lingered on the section about the division of property after divorce, and a mischievous smile crept onto his lips. "Are you sure?"
Olivia nodded. "If you find anything unfair, feel free to bring it up, and we can discuss it."
Pointing to the section about property division after divorce, Xavier said, "This one, strike it out."
Olivia was momentarily stunned. "This doesn't seem to harm you in any way."
She was the daughter of the Xia family, and he was just a waiter. After their divorce, it was only fair to provide the male party with appropriate compensation.
"Si Family, there's no mention of divorce."
Olivia: ???
So, he was taking their marriage seriously?
"If you're getting married to me with the thought of divorcing at any time, there's no need to proceed," Xavier said lazily, raising his hand to cross out the sections related to divorce. He boldly signed his name at the bottom of the agreement and handed it back to Olivia.
His handwriting was elegant and imposing, nothing like that of a hotel waiter.
Olivia couldn't help but sigh. This man had a great physique, good looks, and charisma. Why did he choose to become a waiter?
"Let's go," Olivia put away the agreement and extended her hand to the man.
She had originally intended to invite him inside, but her gesture was not very clear, and the man thought she was inviting him.
Her delicate palm was suddenly grasped by a pair of slightly calloused hands, and Olivia instinctively tried to retract it.
However, Xavier didn't give her a chance to escape. He tightly held her hand, his smile enchanting. "Before you sign, you can still change your mind."
Due to her disappointment with Steven, Olivia had no intention of dating anyone again.
But since he was her first man, and he was willing to take responsibility, why not get married?
It was better than being forced to marry that weird Young Master of Si Family by the Xia family.
