Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Seventy Four

“No”

“No?” she asked shocked

“I just recently developed feelings for you”

“Wait so why are you angry that a man was lusting after me? How did you even notice this?”

“Jessica how would a man feel if another was going after his wife, definitely he would notice it,” Xavier said defending himself.

“I am so sure that like me you also already had feelings for me but you were hiding it,” she said before resting deep into the sofa.

“You also had feelings?” he asked enjoying the moment they were having now.

“So did you” she retorted with a smirk.

“Why don’t we get dinner?” he asked.

“Why are you changing the topic?” she asked as she tried to pry in his face.

“Changing the topic?” he scoffed. “I am just bothered that it might be too late to have dinner, so I want to make sure that you have one so you can use the medicine you were given”

“You are definitely changing the topic but I will let it slide because you seem embarrassed to admit that you already liked me then”

“Wait, embarrassed?” he asked in amusement. “I was never embarrassed, I was just unsure of my feelings. I knew that I wanted no man around you and at the same time I did not know how best to say it out” he explained.

She nodded with a smile pm her face before patting his shoulders a little. “Let’s have dinner now,” she said raising her back to pick up her phone on the center table.

“I will find the contact of Liston and ask him to prepare a special meal,” she said taping away before turning to study him. “That is if you are okay with that”

He shrugged like it was not a big deal but Jessica could see the tightness of his face. “What is wrong? You do not want me to call Liston?” she asked.

“Why do I say that? I never said that” he jumped to defend himself.

“You did not say anything through words but the expression on your face says a thousand words”.

“What expressions?” he asked trying to make his face expressionless.

“The tightness of your jaw and the subtle eye twitching,” she said back.

“Well, it is not like I mind it is just that we can call the restaurant directly and place an order instead of you calling him. You might even be disturbing his work”

“You think so? I just wanted to have him prepare something special for us but if you think so….” she trailed off as she raised her eyes to meet his.

“Yeah so let us just call the restaurant closest to you and have them deliver before it gets too late,” he said picking up his phone. “I will be making the phone call,” he said waving the phone in her face.

She nodded and allowed him to work his magic. He dropped the phone after shooting out orders to whoever it was over the line. She leaned in and put her head on his chest.

He was started at first by her gesture but he wrapped his hands around her shoulder to bring her in.

“Xavier, I am glad we are like this”

“So am I, I think I lucked out this year”

“What do you mean?”

“I think this year was a year of luck for me”

The next morning Jessica insisted on following Xavier to the police station. He wanted to refuse but he knew that she needed to give her testimony and she might want to see her aunt.

Before he finally fell asleep the Inspector General of Police told him that they had found Olivia and she was currently in the police cell.

“Just give your statement and I will take you back home,” he told her and she nodded. They dove into the police station and were ushered to the inspector’s office.

A whole later they were taken to the interrogation room where the man who was the boss yesterday was being asked questions. The officer they saw there told them that he had confessed to everything.

Jessica thought about how her life might have turned out if her aunt had done this to her when she had nobody like Xavier to help her out. She would have maybe been sold out by those men while her aunt might have lived a free life outside while she tried to continue gambling.

Xavier asked for the maximum punishment for them all excluding Olivia. He had told Jessica before they left the house that she might forgive her but he would never forgive her because she put her in so much danger.

He would ask for her to be punished even though it might be the minimum, she might go ahead and do something like that again if she was not called to order.

Jessica thought of begging but it seemed like he was set on what it was he wanted to do. When they had gone to see her she had tears in her eyes.

Jessica thought to herself that her aunt should have been an actress she would have made it for sure. She was putting on a show and being remorseful. The only reason Jessica did not want her aunt in jail was because she thought of the impact on herself.

“I am sorry,” she said as the tears fell from her eyes.

“Then you should stay here and repent from all the illegal deeds you have done over your lifetime” Jessica responded.

“Does this mean you will let me be punished?” she asked suddenly her shaky voice gone and the years ceasing too.

“If you do a wrong deed, you should be punished indeed or do you not think so?” Jessica replied.

“I am your aunt how could you do this to me?” she asked this time her voice angry and strong.

“I am your niece how could you do that to me?” she retorted. “Stay in here and think of all the illegal things you have done and you might be released soon” Jessica added before walking away.

Olivia began to shout about how bad of a relative she was and how she had so much hope in her. Jessica walked feeling herself get teary-eyed. She slid into the car and waited for Xavier who was exchanging pleasantries with some high rank officers when her phone rang.

It was Leslie and Alicia who were waiting for her at home.

“They must have heard about it” she murmured as she dropped her phone to lap
