Your Guise Is Slipping, Miss Pearl

Chapter 1234

Chapter 1234

Blake couldn't really grasp the depth of their troubles, but by looking at Rosalie's face and listening to her, he got the gist of it. He looked surprised but then offered kindly, "Don't worry, I'll take care of the bills."

Although it seemed like an old-fashioned trope, Rosalie felt a bit relieved. "Thanks, but I don't need that," she replied with an eye roll.

Blake noticed Rosalie wasn't as standoffish as when they first met, showing more personality with actions like rolling her eyes. He might have been smitten, thinking she looked pretty adorable doing that.

"I guess I'm stuck living here now," Blake said, sitting up straight like a good student. "I could pay you rent every month."

Rosalie felt even more distraught. "Every month? I'd rather this be over quickly so you can leave."

Blake shook his head. "Doesn't seem like that's going to happen. Looks like this is going to go on for some time.'

Rosalie was stunned.

And so, she was forced to live with him under one roof.

Rosalie struggled with Blake's habits at first. Sleeping all day and playing video games at night just didn't sit well with her.

The noise from his late-night gaming, especially the keyboard clicking, kept her awake since the walls weren't soundproof. That's why she woke up looking tired every day.

Eventually, she couldn't take it anymore and confronted him. "What are you doing?" she demanded, on the brink of madness.

Blake was in his pajamas, looking frustrated and angry at his computer. Seeing him like that, Rosalie realized he might have a temper and was only acting nice around her.

Hearing her voice, Blake turned around, his anger quickly switching to an innocent look. "Why are you still up so late? Did I wake you?' he asked, looking sorry.

Rosalie's anger melted away at his behavior, and she just sighed. "Please, keep it down. And stop gaming all night, it's bad for your health."

Blake looked up, beaming. "Are you worried about me?"

"No, I don't want you to die in my home. It'll be tough to clean up,' she said dryly.

His hopeful look faded. "Alright, I'll go to sleep soon then.' He turned off his computer and got ready for bed.

Rosalie didn't push further since he complied so quickly. As she was about to leave, he spoke up. "But I can't sleep."

"Try counting sheep," she suggested.

"I did. Doesn't work."

Rosalie sighed, turning back. "What do you want to do then?"

Blake grabbed a book from beside his bed and held it up. "How about you read me a story from this fairy tale book?"

Rosalie froze. "Where did you get that?"

She was mortified; he'd found her book.

"What's the big deal? You like fairy tales, so what?"
