Chapter 11: Uncle Daddy
Chapter 11: Uncle Daddy
"Ma'am, Mr. Adam called yesterday. You were not around because you had a business meeting. He said that he received your apology gift, and he wants to meet you this afternoon to sign the papers," she informed me, and I nodded. Actually, Mr. Adam was one of our biggest investors. Losing him would cause a little damage to our company, but as far as I see, we could recover immediately. That's why I sent him a gift that would change his mind, and he couldn't refuse. "Send him an email that I'm only available at Three. I'm still busy with the marketing Strategy for our newly launched presentation," I said while looking at my laptop.
I didn't stop editing the papers last night and even forgot about sending an email to Mr. Lee.
"Yes, ma'am, I also finished the papers you sent me last night. Actually, I wasn't sure about it, that's why I'm also here to show it to you." I looked at her while she placed the papers on my table.
"Why didn't you just send it to my email?" I asked her while staring to check it.
"I emailed it to you last night ma'am, I also sent you a message but I think you're busy with other work" she politely said. I checked my email, and she was right.
I didn't check my email last night because I had to rest. I also checked my messages, and she really did.
"Right, I forgot about it. I'll finish this after I'm done with this one. I'm also done signing the files out there. You can put it in the drawer now. I almost forgot. I will be busy tomorrow. I will send all the emails that you need tonight. Also, remind me about the meeting with Mr. Adam. "I said, and she nodded. She grabbed the files and put them in the drawer.
"You want me to buy something, ma'am?" She turned around after she was done. I didn't eat my breakfast because I was rushing this plan.
"Just a coffee," I said, resting my back on the chair when she left.
I looked at the time and started to work again. After an hour, I was done, and I hadn't finished drinking the coffee that Via had bought for me.
I saved the file to ensure that it's safe and that I don't have to repeat it. I also opened the email she sent me last night.
After checking it, I just made a slight revision, and the rest were good. I already sent it to her about it.
I closed my eyes when I was done. I almost forgot that I still had a meeting with Mr. Adam.
I let out a heavy breath. Then I heard someone knocking on the door of my office.
"Come in!" I shouted while fixing the papers on my table.
"Mommy!" He ran towards me and gave me a warm hug. All my tiredness flew away as soon as I felt my son's hug.
"What are you doing here? I thought you had class today?" I messed his hair up and carried him to sit on my lap.
I looked at the door, and I saw Diego standing there with his messy hair. I chuckled because I already knew what happened.
"I'm sorry," I mouthed at him, and he sat on the couch while David held a small car in his hand.
"Mommy, look! I have a new car!" He said excitedly while she was showing it to me.
"Really? Let me take a look. Wow, did your Daddy Uncle buy this?" I asked him as he nodded. I laughed as I imagined how David kept on convincing Diego to buy that small car.
I know he didn't have proper sleep last night because he's also busy with his other business. He's just wearing shorts, a sleeper, and a shirt with a jacket when he's sleeping. I saw him yawn, I know he's busy taking care of David last day and he only had time to work last night.
"Did you guys eat?" I looked at Diego, and he looked like a shrivelled plant.
"Yes! Daddy Uncle buys pizza for me. Right, dad?" Diego manages to smile, although I know that he's really sleepy.
I feel bad about David waking him up for that small car. He stood up and walked towards us.
He learned to level David's height.
"David, son, your mom is busy. Maybe we could come here the other day if she's not busy?" He said while trying to get his attention.
Since David was Born, Diego has been his father. As he was growing up, they built a strong relationship. I know that David is curious because of the way he's calling Diego, but I couldn't explain it to him since he still couldn't understand it.
David is also used to calling him that way. Diego never fails to make him feel the love of a father. Until now, he has never broken his promise.
"I'm sorry, Mom. "David stood up and looked at me. He's adorable, yet his face reminds me of someone while I'm looking at him.
"It's okay. Maybe we could eat outside for lunch?" I said, which made him jump in excitement, while Diego couldn't stop but laugh because of his reaction.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought him here, I know you're busy but I couldn't refuse him" Diego said while David started to ran through the door.
"I should be the one saying sorry to you. You should be resting at this time. I know you didn't sleep properly last night. Don't worry, I'll talk to David next time," I said while we were both following David walking outside.
"You don't have to. I'm used to him, and besides, I can't bear seeing him sad all day just because I didn't let him come here," he said and chuckled.
I smiled and stared at my son. We're lucky that we have Diego beside us.
