Remorse After Breaking Up

Chapter 459

Chapter 459

There were only a few people around, and it was quiet.

Theo quickly realized that the attacker was a high-level expert, prompting him to consider retreating.

"Just you wait, you filthy toad. I won't let you off so easily," Theo spat out a harsh threat before leaving with Clara. Their followers also made a swift exit.

"Dang... that was close!" Artemis let out a long breath, still shaken.

Then she remembered something. "Thank you, sir, for saving us. Please show yourself."

But since it was Sebastian who intervened, there was naturally no response.

"It seems the person has left. I wonder who it was," Artemis said with a hint of disappointment, as she had hoped to thank the person in person.

"Ms. Artemis, thank you," Sebastian said gratefully. Although he didn't need Artemis's help anymore, he deeply appreciated her constant support.

After Artemis left, Sebastian pondered for a while and decided to speak with Cleef.

Sebastian ultimately found Cleef in the back garden of the Strauss residence.

"Seamus, is there something you need?" Cleef asked,

"Mr. Strauss, I'd like you to cancel my engagement to Ms. Clara," Sebastian said directly.

Cleef was very surprised, evidently not expecting Sebastian to want to break off the engagement.

Most people would think Sebastian was extremely fortunate to be engaged to his daughter. "Seamus, are you serious?"

"Yes," Sebastian nodded without hesitation.

"Seamus, I'm not one to boast. But aside from Clara's status, she is outstanding in looks, figure, and cultivation talent. Can you tell me why you don't want to marry her?" Cleef asked, puzzled.

Cleef thought for a moment and said, "Clara is spoiled, but she isn't inherently bad, just a bit arrogant. She only dislikes you because she doesn't understand your strength. Once she knows your capabilities, she'll not only stop hating you but might even admire you."

"As for you not liking her, it's only because she dislikes you. We men need a beautiful wife to at least please the eye. I believe you can win her over."

"Mr. Strauss, please cancel the engagement," Sebastian insisted. Although he admitted Clara was beautiful, her attitude was unbearable. The thought of living with her for a lifetime gave him a headache.

Cleef frowned. "Seamus, I don't want to force you, but the Strauss family is in great trouble. We desperately need a strong ally, or we will cease to exist."

"How is that possible? Everything seems fine," Sebastian asked, confused.

Cleef sighed. "That's just on the surface. The three major families on Phoenix Island seem united but we're actually in fierce competition. We live on this isolated island, relying mostly on cultivating medicinal herbs for income.

"However, the island's area is small, and there isn't much suitable land for growing herbs. The three families once fought a bitter battle for these areas, suffering heavy losses.

"They later agreed to settle the matter through annual martial contests among the younger generation to determine the ownership of medicinal plant farms.

"Since then, the three families hold a contest every year. The Strauss family has won few and lost many, so our medicinal plant farms have dwindled. Over time, our family has declined, and the gap with the other two families

has widened. If this continues, the Strauss family will be swallowed by the other two.

"So, I'm begging you to marry my daughter. Only with your help can the Strauss family rise again," Cleef pleaded almost desperately.

Sebastian felt troubled. Cleef had treated him well, making it hard to refuse, but he didn't want to sacrifice his happiness.

Seeing Sebastian's hesitation, Cleef gritted his teeth and said, "If you agree to marry my daughter, I'll give you a Spirit Herb!"
