Chapter 16 It Was All Fake
Elsie strutted up to Eileen in her high heels, her long hair swaying against her back. “What are you standing there for, Eileen? Can you please tell me what happened?”
She stretched out an arm, and Eileen stepped backwards with a frown. Eileen picked up the lunchbox on the floor, and left without saying a word.
She appeared calm as she walked along the corridor, but her chest was beating furiously.
The more she thought about it, she realized that every single person around her had something they wanted from her. No one had treated her with a sincere heart!
Eric had used her love to scam her of the will she had, kicking her to the curb after he was done.
Elsie had always taken such good care of Eileen in school, listening to her rants and giving her advice in an attempt to get closer to her and gain Will’s attention. Elsie married into the family, and joined forces with Eric to kill Will.
As for Sarah, Eileen had thought that they were the best of friends…
It was all fake!
Everything in her life was a lie!

Eileen took the lunchbox out in the bathroom, washing it clean. The stench of metal mixed with blood and decay lingered in her mind.
The water pressure was strong, and soaked the injury at her wrist. Water seeped into the wound, and a sharp pain shot up her arm.
Eileen seemed numb to the pain, as if she felt nothing. She saw that her wound was paling when she was done washing, blood seeping out slowly.
She was about to leave, when her vision turned to black. Someone had covered her head with a black plastic bag.
She felt a kick on her back, then a punch on her face. Blow after blow landed on her body, and the paint slowly spread as she was unable to cry out at all…
She could not see a thing, or tell how many people were attacking her…
After the beating was done, she was dragged into the bathroom. The bag was taken off her head, making her head spin with the sudden motion.
The sound of three to five people laughing rang through her cars…
The wound on her wrist had split open once again, blood staining the floor.
She clutched onto her last will to survive, dialing a neater in her phone-
Eric!
“Beep beep beep…”
Eric stopped in his tracks, taking out his ringing phone. He squinted at the screen, displeased.
He switched his phone off, and put it into his pocket.
Vera’s gaze flashed. “Eric, who’s calling? You don’t have to be with me if you’re busy, I’ll be fine on my
own!”
Eric said, “Just a fraud call. It’s nothing.
Eileen had probably lost it at last, and was trying to get to him.
“Alright.” Vera smiled, holding up two ice creams in her hands. She passed one of them to Eric. “I bought this for you, try it!”
Eric had never liked desserts, but he still took the ice cream.
Vera dug into the ice cream, cold and sweet melting on her tongue.
“You shouldn’t be eating stuff like this when your body’s so weak. It might make your stomach hurt.” Eric chided gently.
Vera stuck out her tongue playfully. “Eric, I’m really happy you brought me to the movies… but are you. sure I’m not getting in the way of your work? You know, you don’t have to be with me all the time. I’m fine on my own.”
Vera had not expected that Eric would be waiting to pick her up after school, even taking her to the
movies.
Eric glanced at his watch. “Work hasn’t been that busy lately, I’d rather be spending time with you. Let’s go, the movie’s about to start!”
Vera noticed the two movie tickets he was holding, and pursed her lips. “Eric, is Eileen not going?”
Eric said, “Eileen has her classes to go to, she can’t make it.”
“Alright, let’s go then!” Vera locked arms with Eric.
They were watching a romance movie. The male lead died at the end, leaving the female lead alone in the world until she died of old age.
Eric saw that Vera was still down from the movie when they left, seeming to still be immersed. He took her shopping, buying all the most trendy clothes until they were laden with bags.
It was eight in the evening when the two of them had finished shopping.
The sky was slowly darkening, and the road lit up with streetlights and cars. It made for a beautiful
view.
Vera was happily sat in the passenger seat. “Eric, that arcade was so fun! Let’s go again next time!” Eric smiled warmly. “Sure. I’ll do my best to go with you.”
Eric leaned over to fasten Vera’s safety belt. The close proximity filled his nostrils with a feminine
scent.
This scent was different from that of Eileen’s- hers was sweet. The image of Eileen’s slender figure. flashed past Eric’s mind.
Vera had grown up with Eric, but she would still get nervous whenever he got close to her. She held her breath, her pulse quickening.
Eric leaned back, taking a look at his phone.
He saw that aside from Eileen’s call, there were over thirty missed calls from the Swan household. He had not picked up a single one.
Eric frowned. He was about to call them back, when his phone rang with a call from them again.
Sharon’s panicked voice rang through the phone. “Mr. Snow, is Ms. Swan with you?”
“No, what’s up?” Eric said calmly.
“What? She’s not with you? Where could she be?”
“What? Eileen’s missing?” Eric’s expression grew stern
