Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect

Rebirth 91

Yasmine stopped speaking, her cheeks flushing as she finished the last of her tea.

At night, when Yonas was about to leave, he remembered something, turned to Yasmine, and said, "Til come to pick up Yoselin tomorrow and take her to our grandfather's place. Thank you for taking care of her these past few days" Yasmine smiled gently. "I've long considered Yoselin as my little sister."

The next day at noon, while Yasmine was having lunch, Yonas came to pick up Yoselin.

Shortly after, her phone rang-it was Xavier. Instinctively, she rejected the call, but he called again.

Yasmine answered irritably, "Xavier! What do you want?"

Xavier hurriedly said, "Yasmine, don't hang up. This time, I'm calling about Grandpa.

"Grandpa? What happened to Grandpa?" Yasmine's expression softened. Matthew was the only one in the entire Flynn family who had treated her kindly.

"Grandpa hasn't had much of an appetite lately. I'm planning to take him for a check-up, and he really wants to see you. Can you come over to keep him company?" said Xavier.

After some thought, Yasmine agreed. Despite her dislike for Xavier, she was genuinely concerned about Matthew.

"Then I'll come pick you up now," Xavier said.

"No need, I'll come by myself," Yasmine said. There was a moment of silence on the other end before Xavier reluctantly agreed.

An hour later, Yasmine arrived at the Flynn manor. Although she and Xavier were divorced, the butler still instinctively addressed her as "Mrs. Flynn' when he saw her. Yasmine softly corrected him, saying. I'm no longer Mrs. Flynn."

"My apologies, Ms. Sanchez. It was my fault, the butler replied before leading Yasmine into the main hall.

Upon seeing her, Matthew's face lit up with joy. "Yasmine, you've finally come to see me! Even if you can't stand that brat, I'm still y grandpa, aren't I? You can't forget about me!"

"Grandpa, I've been busy with the competition lately, so I didn't have time to visit. But as soon as I got some free time. I came to see you." Yasmine sat down beside Matthew.

Matthew sighed and said, Tve heard all about that competition, and it's all that good-for-nothing Helen's fault. She tried to cause trouble because she was unable to achieve anything on her own, even going as far as to scald you with hot water. I apologize on her behalf. How's the wound? Does it still hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt anymore. It's still a bit swollen, Yasmine replied with a smile.

Just then, Xavier approached with two cups of coffee. "Grandpa, Yasmine, have some coffee."

Matthew sneered, "I'm happy enough with Yasmine here. What are you doing here? Neither of us wants to see you."

Xavier awkwardly smiled but still sat across from Yasmine. He said, "Grandpa, I'm just concerned about you."

"Don't! I can't take your concern. Just don't upset me-that's all I can ask for. Matthew glared at Xavier but still accepted the coffee and took a sip.

"Yasmine, come play chess with me. I haven't found anyone as good as you to play with," Matthew said, pulling Yasmine over to the

board.

Yasmine took the black pieces while Matthew chose the white.

Xavier stood to the side, watching, but his gaze remained fixed on Yasmine.

"Yasmine, it's been a while since we've played. Let's see if you can beat me this time," Matthew said, eager to start. Yasmine smiled, "Grandpa, you were the one who taught me how to play chess. Of course, I can't beat you." Outside the Flynn manor, a car pulled up. A while later, Yvette walked in, holding a bag of supplements. The butler's eyes widened as he glanced at the main hall. "Ms. Grant, what brings you here?"

"I came to check on Grandpa. I heard he hasn't had much of an appetite lately," Yvette said with a smile.

"Ms. Grant, please come this way, Wait here for a moment, and I'll inform Mr. Matthew Flynn." The butler hurried into the hall and informed Xavier of Yvette's arrival.

Xavier's expression changed dramatically, and he followed the butler to where Yvette was waiting.

"Why are you here?" he asked, his tone laced with impatience.

Yvette feigned nonchalance as she replied, "I heard you mention that Grandpa hasn't had much of an appetite lately, so I brought some supplements for him. I was going to come with you, but you left so quickly that I had to drive here myself." Xavier didn't even glance at the supplements. He said gently, "Yvette, you know that Grandpa doesn't... Maybe you should leave."

Yvette froze, staring at Xavier in disbelief with tearful eyes. "Xavier, I came here with good intentions, and you want me to leave without giving my gift to Grandpa? Besides, we will get married eventually. For our future, I need to build a good relationship with Grandpa. Please trust me I'm willing to do anything for you."

"But..." Xavier furrowed his brows.

Yvette continued, "Xavier, I am sure Grandpa will see the genuine care I have for him one day." Then she strode into the living room, leaving Xavier behind.

"Grandpa, I've come to see you, she announced with a bright smile as she walked over, only to spot someone she didn't want to see.

Behind her, Xavier called out, "Yvette!"

Yvette's expression changed. She awkwardly bit her lip, forced a smile, and said, "Ms. Sanchez, you're here too!"

Yasmine looked up, nodded slightly, and then returned her focus to the board.

Unwilling to be ignored, Yvette turned to Matthew and said, "Grandpa, I heard you haven't had much of an appetite lately, so I brought some supplements. I'll have the butler cook some for you to try and see if you like them. If you do, I'll bring more next time." She held up the supplements for Matthew to see, but he remained entirely focused on the board and didn't spare her a glance. Yvette put the supplements down and stood aside, looking pitifully at Xavier.

Yasmine smiled faintly. "Grandpa, Ms. Grant brought these out of kindness. You should take them."

She wasn't trying to help Yvette, she just didn't want to be under someone's constant

gaze.

Hearing her words, Matthew shot a cold glance at Yvette, then casually pointed to a table nearby, and said, "Put them over there. Thank

you,"

"Alright, Yvette said, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Not giving up, she moved closer to Matthew, examined the position on the board, and said, attempting to endear herself, "Grandpa, you could make this move

She just wanted to show that she could also play chess, subtly suggesting that Matthew could invite her to play in the future.

But to her surprise, Matthew moved his piece and snapped, "Don't you know the rule about not speaking during a game? How ignorant can you be?"

Xavier pursed his lips. "Grandpa, Yvette doesn't know much about these things."

12:53PM.

"If she doesn't know, she shouldn't pretend to. She violated the rules of the game," Matthew said impatiently.

"My apologies, Grandpa, Yvette said, flustered,

The more she was treated this way, the more she resented Yasmine.

She thought, Why does Grandpa adore Yasmine so much while disliking me?

She then asked. 'Grandpa, I also love playing chess. Could I learn from you? So when Ms. Sanchez isn't around, I could play with you."

Yasmine looked up and, seeing her pitiful demeanor, couldn't help but feel a bit of annoyance.
