Chapter 1652
Carmen said, "Ms. Vaughn, Nadia has been crying this whole time. Didn't you see how upset she is? Someone bullied her. Otherwise, she wouldn't be crying so hard.
"I don't care what happened, but I demand an explanation for this today. Both the parent and the child owe us an apology!" Carmen's voice was sharp and unrelenting as if Nadia's tears alone were proof of her victimhood.noveldrama
Her demeanor screamed entitlement-her child cried, so she was the one who had been wronged.
Melanie, Wren, and Ulva frowned at her words. Skylar spoke calmly, her tone cool and measured. "Let's check the surveillance footage."
"Mom, she always cries when she doesn't get what she wants. She's always bragging about how expensive her clothes and shoes are. And when we accidentally touch them, she demands that we pay her back." Vivian couldn't hold back her frustration any longer.
She could be friends with all the other kids but not Nadia.
Skylar knew Vivian wasn't one to get hurt easily. After all, it seemed she inherited her fighting spirit-from both Skylar and Joe. Joe, in particular, was even better at it.
Anyone who tried to bully Vivian was making a big mistake.
Just then, Ulva brought in the surveillance footage. They had already reviewed it and knew what had happened. She turned to Carmen and said, "Mrs. Becker, the situation is just as Vivian explained. Nadia did take the stickers, so she was in the wrong. We'll send you the footage so you can see yourself."
Hearing Ulva's words, Carmen was momentarily stunned but quickly regained her composure and stubbornly said, "Even if Nadia took the stickers, Vivian shouldn't have snatched them back. She shouldn't have fought with Nadia. The fact that she hit my daughter makes her wrong too. Didn't you see Nadia crying? She's clearly the one who's been wronged."
Melanie, Wren, and Ulva exchanged helpless looks. They had dealt with many children and parents before, but Carmen's unreasonable attitude was a first.
Even after everything was explained clearly, she refused to acknowledge her child's fault and chose to place all the blame on others instead.
If it had been another parent with a worse temper, they might have started a fight with Carmen already. However, Skylar had remained remarkably calm throughout the ordeal.

"If your daughter takes someone else's belongings, isn't it only right for the other person to take them back? Does your family's rules say your daughter can hit others, but no one can hit her back? Mrs. Becker, where exactly did you learn such a twisted set of principles?" Skylar finally lost her patience.
Dealing with someone so unreasonable, who twisted the situation to suit themselves, was exhausting. Some people just didn't know when to back down.
"This is outrageous! It's just stickers. Why are you treating the stickers like treasure? Are you that petty? If you're poor, that's your business, but don't embarrass yourselves in public.
"I could buy every sticker in all of Jipsburg to compensate you, but you will apologize to Nadia today. Otherwise, don't even think about your daughter being allowed to stay in this kindergarten. I know plenty of people in the media. Trust me, I can ensure your family will never be able to show their faces in public again."
Carmen's frustration boiled over into threats. When she had joined the class group chat, she had done her homework, skimming through the profiles of the other parents.
Skylar rarely spoke in the group chat. Whenever the kindergarten hosted events, most parents would go out of their way to showcase their family's status or abilities, all to impress the school staff and other parents.
However, Skylar never participated in such displays, nor did Joe.
The silence led Carmen to a simple conclusion. Vivian's family probably lacked money and was just barely scraping by to send their child to an elite school like this. If not, Vivian wouldn't care so much about something as trivial as a sticker.
They couldn't afford better.
Melanie was well aware of Carmen's profession as a social media influencer. Carmen was adept at stirring up drama, so Melanie hesitated, glancing uneasily toward Skylar.
While Melanie had a good sense of the other parents' backgrounds, Skylar remained a mystery. She never posted on Instagram, never joined discussions about school activities, and never gave anyone a glimpse into her personal life.
Melanie assumed Skylar would be intimidated by Carmen's aggression, yet to her surprise, Skylar's expression didn't change in the slightest. She remained as calm as ever.
What do you think?
