His Ex-wife Is An Heiress (Amara and Tobias)

Chapter 0072

"Touch her one more time, and I promise, you'll lose that hand of yours."

Tobias's voice was calm and cold, but his eyes were blazing with fury. His fingers were wrapped around the drunk man's wrist and his grip was tight, the veins in his arms bulging, showing just how hard he was holding on. The drunk man hissed and tried to yank his hand free. His first attempt was futile, but the second one, thanks to Tobias's lessened grip, was a success.

"You fucker," He cursed, glaring daggers at Tobias who was unfazed by his action.

Rather than paying attention to the man in front of him, Tobias, almost like an instinct, pushed Amara behind him and stepped forward.

The gesture surprised Amara to some extent and she was sure it was the alcohol's influence that made her heart flutter and skip a beat. "Get lost." Tobias commanded, his tone, calm and icy.

"Fuck you, man."

"Don't be stupid," Tobias's patience was thinning, and a dark shadow cast over his eyes. "If you don't leave, I'll make you."

His threat was a bit vague, but it was enough to have the man backing away slowly.

"Fuck this shit." He spat angrily, throwing his hands up. "I don't need this. She's not worth it."

With those final words, the man turned around and stalked off, leaving Tobias and Amara alone.

Tobias's gaze followed the man until he had completely disappeared from his sight, only then did he turn back around, his attention returning to Amara who stared up at him, half drunk.

Seeing her state, he couldn't help but sigh in annoyance. "I thought better of you, being so careless of your surrounding in a place like this. Have you lost your mind?" His reprimanding tone and choice of words had a sobering effect on Amara, and she frowned. "I'm not a child. I know how to handle myself." She countered, glaring up at him in a way that angered Tobias even more.

"The situation earlier said otherwise."

"But I could have handled it. Don't mistake me for your little mistress or some prince who's in need of a prince to come to her rescue."

"Yet I've saved you twice, haven't I?"

Amara scoffed. "And I've repaid you, haven't I? But if you insist that's not enough," She turned around and walked, no, stumbled towards where she placed her purse, returning with a wad of cash. "I can always pay, again."

As Amara waved the cash in front of him, Tobias clenched his jaw.

Not only was Amara saying that she saw him as a cheap sex worker, but also the fact that the times he had helped amounted to nothing more than a couple of dollar bundles. Tobias felt insulted.

Before Amara could react, he grabbed the same wrist that had proudly been waving in his face and dragged her close.

The sheer force, coupled with the alcohol that was making her legs weak, was enough to have her staggering, and she would have fallen, had it not been for Tobias's strong hold. Her body was pressed up against his and her face was so close, that Amara could see the anger clearly displayed on his face.

"If you're so desperate to repay me," He yanked on her wrist again, pulling her even closer and earning a silent whimper from her. "There are other way."

Oh, how Amara would have swooned over those words and their meaning...in the past.

But right now, presently, hearing those words only sparked anger in her.

She pushed him away and without warning, slapped him, hard.

"You're disgusting." She spat and turned around, about to storm off when she saw Bethany standing there, looking stunned.

"Mara," She looked between Amara and Tobias, noticing the red bruise even in the dark environment. "I'm sorry for leaving you alone, I shouldn't have-" "I'm fine." Amara reassured, taking Bethany's hand and storming away.

Or at least she intended to.

Less than a step later, Amara felt liquid slap her hard in the face.

She stood, stunned, while the sweet liquid ran down her face.

Bethany gasped and Tobias looked completely surprised, not even able to make a single move as the whole thing had happened.

The culprit and creator of their current situation, Fiona, stood in front of Amara with a smug look on her face.

"You stupid bitch," She cursed. "You

might feet high and might because

of those old men fucking and

praising you, but don't ever think you have the right to raise that filthy hand of your at my brother

"Fiona!" Tobias rushed towards his sister and grabbed her hand. She stumbled because of the force. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!"

Fiona yanked her hand free and glared at her brother. "I'm teaching her a lesson. She's in the wrong here. She-"

Before Fiona could finish speaking, her entire face was drenched at once, covered in the exact same liquid Fiona had splashed her with.

Fiona gasped loudly and whipped her head in the direction of Amara, who was holding an empty wine bottle.

"How dare you," Fiona fumed, stomping forward and about to land a punch on Amara when a loud sound was heard, and she stopped. The sound had been the bottle that Amara had slammed on the ground, breaking the top half into tiny pieces.

"Six years, I endured your damn stupidity, thinking that you'd change." Amara started, her gaze fixed on Fiona's and her expression calm.

"I put up with the bullying, the taunting and the name calling. I put up with you spreading false rumors about me, and I never said a word."

She stepped forward and her voice

began to drop, going octave lower

and more scarier. "But enough is enough," The tone, the look, the

words. Everything was enough to

have Fiona freeze in her spot.

"I'm tired, Fiona, tired of putting up with your bullshit, and tired of seeing that arrogant, spoiled brat look on your face."

Amara stopped a mere few inches

away from Fiona. "Now if you dare

cross that line one last time, I'd make you and your mother regret ever choosing to pick on the wrong person."

"And that's not a warning darling, it's a threat."
