Chapter 218
Chapter 218
Only when Evander mentioned the matter of education did Angeline realize that Sebastian couldn’t stay cooped up at home all day for the sake of his physical and mental health. Instead, he had to attend kindergarten to have contact with other children.
Indeed, it sounded great for him to attend the same kindergarten as Floretta. Unfortunately, she didn’t have that much money.
Furthermore, she still had to save money for him to go abroad and seek treatment from a doctor in the cardiology field. That would be an exorbitant sum, and she could tell which took precedence at the end of the day.
“You don’t need to worry about the money. I’ll settle everything,” Evander asserted while she was still wavering.
It was as though he was merely speaking about something as simple as the weather.
“No, it’s okay.”
Angeline hastily waved her hands in demurral, embarrassed to accept charity though his offer was incredibly touching. Afraid that he would be upset, she elaborated, “You’ve already helped me too much. To me, Floretta is the best gift. I can’t continue troubling you.”
Clocking her resolute demeanor, Floretta started panicking.
She tugged at the hem of Evander’s shirt and cried out urgently, “Daddy!”
Exasperated, Evander plunged into silent contemplation for a moment before countering, “There’s no need to stand on ceremony with me. Besides, as a mother, you should consider the matter from Sebastian’s point of view. He’s a kid with special needs. If you were to send him to the average kindergarten, his mental health would never take a turn for the better.”
Upon hearing that, Angeline fell silent, feeling that he actually made sense.
Every kindergarten is of different quality. Sebastian is a kid with autism. He doesn’t like to talk and isn’t well-liked by the teachers. Worse still, he might be ridiculed by his classmates. If so, this action of mine will be akin to pushing him back into the fire after saving him from the frying pan. Should I work harder to give him the best educational environment?
Just then, Evander spoke timely and extricated her from the mortifying dilemma.
“You don’t need to make a decision in haste. I’ll have Sylas send you a copy of the kindergarten schedule. Take a look at it first before making up your mind.”
“That’ll be great.”
Dipping her head and seeing the two children hugging each other while grinning widely after the entire conversation, Angeline breathed a sigh of relief.
It had her all the more convinced that Evander was right. Perhaps this is the best choice.
The next day, Angeline had to attend an event on behalf of Moistdore Cosmetics at night.
Francesca had left with Floretta while the nanny Evander helped her hire hadn’t yet started work. Thus, Sebastian was left with no one to take care of him.
While she wondered whether to take him to the set, Nancy returned from a business trip abroad. Hearing about Angeline’s predicament, Nancy rushed to the hospital with all her luggage.
“Sebastian, my darling!”
Tossing her suitcase aside, she spread her arms and lunged at Sebastian with all the excitement in the world, hoping to hug him.
On the contrary, Sebastian, who was drawing on the couch, merely lifted his eyes and cast her an indifferent look after hearing the commotion.
Contempt showed on his face, and it was as though he was griping about the sudden appearance of the strange woman.
Thereafter, he lowered his head again and focused his attention on drawing.
Naturally, Angeline heard the ruckus as well. She walked out of the kitchen in an apron and a spatula in hand.
“Oh God, what happened to you?”
Right then, Nancy had transformed into a delinquent from her initial style of grace and poise. Not only had she dyed her hair pink, but she also wore a studded jacket, black army pants, and knee-high boots.
Standing right where she was, Nancy proudly spun in a circle.
“Well? Doesn’t this look suit me perfectly?”
Angeline lifted her hand and cradled her forehead. For a moment, she almost couldn’t recognize Nancy.
“Don’t go overboard, Nancy. Remember that you’re a top-notch manager. Who would be willing to talk business with you if you dress so frivolously?” she advised earnestly.
Whipping off her sunglasses, Nancy regarded Angeline in disdain.
“How shallow of you! We should all try different styles. Otherwise, life will be dull.”
After saying that, she picked up her suitcase and headed toward Sebastian with a bright smile on her face.
“Let’s ignore your mommy, Darling. I bought back a ton of toys for you.”
As she spoke, she unzipped her suitcase. Taking out some unopened race car models, she started telling him how to play with them.
His curiosity piqued, Sebastian gradually accepted her presence and listened to her seriously.
However, Angeline found Nancy all the stranger as she scrutinized the latter’s appearance. Hmm, this exaggerated getup is somewhat similar to Roger’s style.
At that thought, she reached out and nudged Nancy’s arm.
“Aren’t you planning to explain things to me?” she queried in a low voice.
“What?” Nancy questioned perfunctorily, busy talking to Sebastian.
Her eyes brimming with worry, Angeline shook her head helplessly.
“Who did you interact with while abroad, and who exactly was the man on the phone back then?”
“Gosh, you’ve got so many questions. I’m not a three-year-old kid, so I can take responsibility for my own actions.”
Nancy sounded all scornful, but her gaze flickered, making it evident that she didn’t want to tell Angeline much.
In fact, she quickly retorted, “Take a look at yourself first. You look like an old lady. Quick, doll up for a bit since you’ll be in contact with many elites in the business world tonight.”
“The company will be sending a car over to pick me up for a gown-fitting session in a bit. Therefore, I’m in no hurry.”
Angeline heaved a sigh. Reluctant to push too hard, she merely cautioned Nancy to be careful before whirling around and going back into the kitchen.
Most importantly, she knew the latter all too well. Once Nancy had decided upon something, no one could change her mind.
Angeline prepared a nutritious dinner. She asked Nancy to feed Sebastian and left some further instructions before leaving the hospital.
By then, the car sent by the company had been waiting for her downstairs for quite a long time. Anxiety overwhelmed her, and she strode toward the entrance as soon as she stepped out of the elevator.
Consequently, she failed to notice the beautiful figure brushing past her when she trotted out the door. The woman dressed imposingly in black and wearing high heels of over ten centimeters then took the elevator upstairs.
She came to a hospital room, only to be greeted by the sight of security guards in front of the door. Dismissing them all, she pushed open the door and strolled in.
At that moment, a nurse was wiping Wilfred down. At the sight of the woman, surprise showed on her face.
“You’re Mrs. Yiurk?”
“Yes.”
Joseline’s gaze alighted on Wilfred on the hospital bed, who had his eyes open for once.
Her expression slowly darkened, yet she calmly declared, “You aren’t needed here anymore. Go out and wait.”
The nurse glanced at Wilfred, only to glimpse a flash of hostility in his eyes.
Following that, she ventured, “Uh… Why don’t you just tell me whatever you have to say, Mrs. Yiurk? Old Mr. Sorelle has a bit of a hearing problem, so I’ll convey your words to him slowly.”
